Laptop runs like absolute crap since reformat.
Here's the quick version of the story....
How formatting came about... I was checking out a HL2 mod called Synergy. After being on a server for less than 2mins, my comp blue screened on me. I manually restarted only to be welcomed to a nice "bad_pool_caller" blue screen before I got to desktop. Even trying to run in safe mode gave me this error so I chose to reformat. Post format... BF2/PR now runs like absolute shit. Before the format, I had no problems whatsoever with BF2 performance. Now, it's brutal. System Specs Model : Dell XPS M1730 Laptop CPU : Core 2 Duo T7700 2.4Ghz Video : nVidia Geforce 8700M GT Sli 512MB RAM : 4GB OS : XP Home Things I've tried so far,

Could it be a connection problem? That machine should run PR nicely, so maybe your LAN drivers are fubared?
Or is it truly a performance problem (FPS-wise)? |

Do a memtest and see if your ram went bad. I had mine go bad on a pc i built 2 years ago and it did the same thing it would run but like shite.

I just downloaded a memtest ISO, burnt it to a cd, booted from the cd and ran the test. It took over an hour but reported no errors.

What make of hard drive is in your laptop? Might be worth getting the hard drive manufacturers diagnostic tools and running them..

pick up the Nvidia control pannel and check the settings and optimizations, they are usefull.

Try that other piece of firmware from Dell that you didnt egt mate, see if that helps....
