Have you been through your BIOS settings with a fine comb? It might be under clocked.
I've had BIOS setting seemingly change their settings in the past. And these will obviously not be affected or fixed with any OS rebuild. Worth a look.. but make sure it's a good look, somethings are easily missed. |

I would get the specific ones from the hardware manufacturers.. The Dell drivers are usually very outdated.

Probably something you have tried but have you tried to delete the cache folder to reset all the shaders etc? Defrag your HD?, have you made sure you have not lost any hardware from the crashes like ram etc.

Dumb 2p's worth, if you installed all the dell and nvidia junk, you don't have that nvidia firewall util running, do you? That causes no end of issues. Also, try and get us a screenie of your bios settings. we might find a "go freekin slow" switch somewhere :P
Dell XPS' are usually pretty damn nice at gaming, so for it to perform poorly there has to be either some bottleneck either on graphics or hdd, or god forbid, a utility hogging it all. |

I'm making this comprehensive post in the hope that it helps someone find out the problem...
System CPU : Intel T7700 2.4GHZ x 2 GPU : 2 x 8700M Sli (512mb combined) running latest drivers and in Sli mode RAM : 4gb (3gb recognized by XP) Audio : USB X-Fi Surround 5.1 BIOS : A10 (latest from dell) Misc Information Direct X 9.0c is installed Paging File is set to be system managed (have tried the usual 1.5x setting, no difference) Dual-core is enabled in the BIOS (tried turning it off, made things worse) Dell Quickset says I need a battery replacement (doubt this affects running on AC though) BF2 video settings Resolution - 1600x1200
Just tried out "Operation Archer" online. Archer is very static light and is not a performance hog by any means. Looking away from the center of the map = 60-80 FPS Looking towards the center of the map = 20-30 FPS |

Check your windows services (start > run > services.msc) to see if you're running any hogs you may have forgotten you had previously disabled. Also, have you tried manually editing the BF2 profile in the nvidia control panel? Try turning some of the optimisations on, etc.
