Heres a thread with some advice on how to do it:
http://www.realitymod.com/forum/f66-...a-problem.html This guide from Ghostdance was extremely helpful: How to dual boot Vista and XP (with Vista installed first) -- the step-by-step guide with screenshots One tip to save you some hassle - if you put them both on the same drive, make sure you give each partition enough room for the OS's and all the other crap - its a pain resizing them later And seriously think about if you need both. Since I set up XP, I've literally never used Vista since. ( It might be useful for DX10 though ) |

By far the easiest, if you want both, is to install XP 1st, then install Vista as a clean install, not an upgrade. Vista will see your XP installation and give you prompts on what to do. Very easy. After installing both.. at boot you will be given a choice between 'Old version of Windows' (XP) and 'Vista'. The other way round is more complicated.. (Vista then XP), but possible. See above links..

if you are starting with vista, make sure to find and install the right drivers for xp or it will cause problems later like not being able to use the internet or recognizing peripherals.

I recently formatted my harddrive and just installed XP64 on its own. After setting up the dual boot, I think I only bothered using Vista about twice in six months, and even then it was to get around a trial period on some software. If I had a few DX10 games, then it may have been worth keeping Vista, but overall I'm glad I've chosen XP64 as now I dont have crashes on map changes when I play PR
