Default Ping Through the Roof on European servers

Before 0.85 I was able to play on European Servers, like Battleforce, but lately, I've been getting ping in the 250+ instead of around 140. Anyone else have this problem?

Its either the fact that they moved there server or its just server side, obviously in European servers your going to get higher pings if you are living in north America. It also could be your connection if you used to get better pings, have you noticed higher pings in local servers?

Ping went up in General, but the difference isn't as noticeable, as it was on the European servers(I seen 400+ in some cases, on servers that I could easily play on before). I just used Battleforce as an example because I used to be on their server a lot. I installed Vista the day before the release though...Would this have that much of an impact on this?

EDIT: On XP I believe I disabled Windows Firewall

Than disable your firewall, I don't use vista and Idk why it would reduce your internet speed but vista has been known to do some funny things. I would say disable your firewall and see if that helps. What else have you changed before this happened?

In this day and age you don't want to be on the web without a firewall.
Windows firewall sucks I think everyone agrees, but there are many others you can use for free.

Many factors can cause or add to high ping.
Run the test below.

Remember it is recommended that you restart your system after you install/uninstall programs to ensure all installed components, files and registry entries are correctly installed or removed.
So it is key you restart after using pbsvc uninstall.

Some routers with 'packet inspection' turned on can also trigger a disconnect when game data or voip traffic triggers a false "ping flood"attack and the router shuts down needed ports to protect your network.
So try turning packet inspection off to see if that helps.
If you have a busy network you can also get dropped if your packets are consistently getting delayed due to high traffic.( your ping jumps way up from time to time)
If your running Xp you can tune up your internet connection with TCP Optimizer to maximize throughput.
check out speed guides web site
click here to use their TCP/IP Analyzer
results will show if you can improve throughput.

Having a router like D-links gamers lounge, that can prioritize traffic( they call it GameFuel), can make a night and day difference.
This GameFuel improves your online gaming experience by ensuring that your game traffic is prioritized over other network traffic, such as FTP or Web. This is of course much more helpful on networks with more than one user, but if you like to download bit torret or other large files in the background while gaming you'll be glad you have one that can prioritize or 'shape' traffic.
good luck
Knowing more about your network setup would be helpful
