THE PROBLEM:
OK, so i decide that I want to play project reality again, and Soon realise that there is a new version out. I download both parts from filefront and install them in my game directory. Try to join an online training server (kashan desert), and it loads to verifying client data before crashing to desktop. No error message. So, for the past 5 hours I have been searching high and low for a solution. Here are a list of things I have already tried: -Re installing the entire thing (BF2, the patch, the mod) -Creating a shortcut on the desktop directly to PR -Running it in windowed mode to find any error messages -Trying out different maps after changing something -Changing the resolution to the exact same as my monitor (1024x768 60hz) -Changing all the graphics settings to lowest -Changing all the graphics settings to medium -Changing all the graphics settings to low apart from texture and lighting (medium) -Opening project reality through the community tab in vbf2 -Re-installing punkbuster and updating -Deleting cache folder under battlefield 2 in my documents. The game isnt installed in the C drive if that has any relevance. Here are a list of things that happened during tweaking: -The game actually loaded 2 maps on create local. No one else but me was in the game. -It started crashing on squad assignment more often (a bit later than usual) -I got a "C++ runtime error" once while trying to load kashan desert. Since I have not been able to play on any maps. My game does not crash while loading (%), only at verifying client data or squad assignment. At the minute, it will not load any maps. My specs are: Intel pentium 4 3.0ghz ati radeon HD2600 XT 1gb ram Windows XP media centre I'm pretty sure it isn't my ram, as other people report being able to play on medium with the same amount. I did have the game running on 0.82 or something before christmas. My biggest concern is my graphics card, as similar issues have appeared in one or 2 threads across the internet with CTD in project reality, at the same point in loading, with the same card. Posting this here is my last resort as I don't know what else to do. Any help would be appreciated! NOTE: Sorry about the long thread length, I put as much information in as I could to help identify the problem. |

you might want to consider to getting another gig of ram, 1 gig is really cheesy for the games that are coming out these days,

Have you tried creating a new user in PR to rule out corrupted preference files?
Trash your documents/bf2 folder? Update drivers? The most common causes of CTD are: Failure to uninstall any previously installed versions of PR. This can easily be done via the Windows Control Panel 'Add and Remove Programs' icon, under "Project Reality 0.x".*, then delete the PR folder to remove any leftover files. Don't forget to delete the desktop short as well. PRv.85 uses 2 installers. You must install both 'core' and 'levels'. It is recommended that you restart your system after you install/uninstall programs to ensure all installed components, files and registry entries are correctly installed or removed. BF2 not updated to v 1.41 FULL update 1.41 Good luck |
