Right, got a mate who's doing a bit of an upgrade soon and one of the things on his list is RAM.
In his system currently is PC2-4200 (I think, it's 533Mhz) and he's looking at grabbing these, I reckon they won't work as they are 800Mhz, however a few people have told me that this doesn't matter. Views? |

what motherboard does he have?

Look at the specs on his motherboard. The RAM will still work regardless but it's kind of pointless to buy high-performance RAM only for it to run at a much lower clock speed and higher latency because of limitations on the motherboard.

Cheers for the help guys, we've found some 667Mhz RAM that should be compatible. ( A google search on his MOBO comes up saying 533 and 667 is supported.

fyi- if he gets the higher clock ram, when it is forced down to 667, it may (depending on his motherboard and the ram of course) tighten up the timings. This would allow him to hold onto them for a mobo upgrade in the future.
