Microphone Broken In-Game?

Hey guys,

I have a crappy non-USB headset I've used the microphone for, for quite a few months now... Earlier, the server I was playing on crashed, and when it restarted and I rejoined, everyone in my squad was saying my mic sounded like CHCHCHCHHHHHCHCHCCHHHHHHHHHH.

So, I came out of PR and reloaded it, same again.

So, I restarted my computer and reloaded it, same again.

Then I messed around in sound recorder; sometimes it recorded fine, other times it recorded nothing but a loud CCCCHCHCHHHCHCHHHHHHH.

I've not changed any settings and I've not damaged my microphone, but it's just stopped working in-game, whilst simultaneously working without issue on TeamSpeak?

Any ideas chaps?

Unplug and replug it, make sure in it seated all the way in.
Do you have a chair with wheels that can run over the cable?
Check cable for damage

Update drivers?

I re-plugged it; the cable loops around my desk speakers so it doesn't touch the floor anywhere near my chair - Doesn't appear to be any damage to the cables.

Drivers are up to date.

Just went on to check now and apparently it was working fine according to CP.Hicks and Frosty, stupid mic, though just also checked sound recorder and it's screwing up 50% of the recordings...
