Radio Sound Stuttering and Static

EVERYTHING else is fin, EAX, air absorbtion, spoken words, gunshots etc etc etc

The problem we have is the Radio chatter (Hit this position do you copy? and so on) AND the Rally point/Cache/Comm. Post radio sounds

All of these sounds are terribly distorted and static and stutter endlessly, taking an ear bleeding age before the message is complete

Reinstalled BF2 clean, Reinstalled PR clean, Upgraded BF2's OpenAL file to the latest (which sounds sexier but didnt fix the main problem) sound Card drivers are up to date and so on, all the usual Ballocks.

Used to work before I had a PC crash and reinstalled everything clean, now it's a bastard

How to for anyone else...

Nuke all Directx and Creative drivers, (rollback to directx 8 summin)

Reinstall Directx 9.0c - Install older Creative drivers (version before the most recent has worked for me) Et Voila! fixy fix

Just baught new game today, installed that, background music on main music is hellishly static and grim.

reinstalled all my drivers for my soundcard with completely clean install, latest drivers.

now when I run creative's diagnostic it fails on the Directsound tests, reinstall drivers (new download) still fails...

can't find any download that'll help me

I've done all the OpenAL malarky, now I'm screwd

Stuck, HELP!

Check in windows audio and make sure you aren't running any 'enhancements' (post audio processes)
What are your game settings?
If your running high go medium
Hardware go software

Have you tried rolling back drivers?
