Default Installation error with Client.zip on 0.8

Hi everyone!
Today I managed to install Battlefield 2 yet again, and I was ready to get online. After finally getting the Core and Levels downloaded, I started installing them one by one.
Core went all fine, and the Levels part seemed to work out fine UNTIL:
It started giving me a installation error on Al Kufrahs client.zip file.
I tried to let it install over a few times, but it just didn't seem to work.
As it was only one map, I decided to ignore it and come back and try to fix it at a later time, but it kept repeating on at least three more client.zip files..
I find this very weird, as I installed 0.8 a while back without any trouble at all!

If you need my system specs or anything, I can get them later..

All help is appreciated, thanks!

Quick check list:
BF2 installed
All earlier PR versions and desktop shortcuts deleted

Full 1.41 BF2 updater
PR 8 uses TWO installers
#1 Core installed FULL ( create desktop short checked)
#2 levels(maps) installed
(Vista users need to set compatibility mode to xp and run as admin in their desktop shortcut)
running game at 1024x768 res or higher same as your desktop.

punk buster uninstalled with pbsvc
reboot before reinstalling punk buster files with pbsvc( if your using Vista DO NOT set compatibility to XP for PBSVC, run as admin ok)
run pbsvc test/get all green on test
update bunk buster files with pbsetup
open firewall for punk buster and bf2 or turn off

Hi, thepalerider!
It shows out both my vanilla and PR installs crashes instantly after showing the BF2 Logo, I've tried setting Compability to XP S2 and everything, I'm pretty confused...

Sondre Einarsen,
The most common causes of CTD are:

Lack of bf2 FULL update 1.41

Incomplete install of 'Core' & 'Levels'

Compatibility mode to xp and run as admin not set in desktop shortcut on Vista PCs

Running game below 1024x768 resolution

You must start PR from the shortcut

If you still have trouble run battlefield cleaner to flush out your video cache files
Still no joy?

Trash your BF2 cache files
Path:
C:\Users\'your user name here'\Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache

Throw EVERYTHING inside the folder named cache away.
don't worry the files will be replaced with new ones when the game restarts.

Don't get the single player (SPPR) mixed up with multilayer The new SPPR installs to it's own folder and
has it' own mappack installer.

menno420
Go inside your PR folder and find the zip 'shaders_client'

copy it (Ctrl+c)

Now go up one level (out of PR folder)
You should be able to see the 'xpack' folder inside the 'mods' folder with the PR folder.
Paste (Ctrl+v) shaders_client into the 'xpack' folder

I have a xpack.zip as well next to xpack
I can't remember making a backup zip of 'xpack' so the game might need it.
If you have one(xpack.zip) look inside it.
If it's empty put a copy of 'shaders_client' inside it
or delete it and make a new one with the xpack you just put 'shaders_client' into.
(right click on 'shaders_client'
choose send to compressed (zip) folder)

I think that should fix it
If not reinstall 'core'

Hi again!
Compability mode is set to XP already, and I have the UAC turned off, so it shouldn't really be a problem.
I will try what you said in just a minute, and yeah, I tried writing 0 after the +fullscreen in the shortcut, and it seemed to run, until this:

Thanks for all the help and kindness!

Edit:
Just tried using Battlefield cleaner

Sondre Einarsen,
Here are some suggestions:
Reinstall FULL BF2 1.41 updater
Make sure 'run as admin' is checked in your shortcut:
Right click shortcut
choose 'properties' from bottom of list
Click on the Compatibility 'tab'(along the top of the window)

Download a new 'levels' from a different server.
Update your DX drivers (run windows updater, choose look for optional updates)

Make sure the user account you use has 'admin' set for it.

PS it's not a good idea to turn UAC off (IMHO)
sure it's a royal pain in the ass at first, BUT

Would you stop locking your house just because a crook could break a window to get in anyway?

Anyway your error message contains 1.41 updater
and battlefield cleaner can't find the admin user account to find your video cache files.
Path:
C:\Users\'your user name here'\Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache

Throw EVERYTHING inside the folder named cache away.
don't worry the files will be replaced with new ones when the game restarts.
Restart PR from the shortcut
Log in
Hit 'deploy'
Hit 'join internet'
Hit 'update servers'
Hit 'back' button in till 'quit' appears,
Quit out.

Restart PR try to join server.

That's all I can think of
Hope it helps

PS If all else has failed read this:

Good luck

No..The problem to this is that your download is corrupted, redownload map/core (whichever one i giving u trouble)

ASSETS: Updated new razorwire to spawn as wreck. Fixed some dummy objects. (dbzao)
ASSETS: Removed razorwire spawning wreck as it actually doesn't have a wreck model. (dbzao)

Hi, i just redownloaded 0.8 on my new computer. The installation of the core files was fine until it said that common_client is corrupted. I didnt want to download the core again because I already had once when it stalled, and the download took 4 hours. Can anyone send me just the common_client.zip? Everything else installed fine. Thanks.
