systems dont have to fit on a game. Games have to fit on a system.

I have never had Vista, always refused to use it. However I have now formatted and installed windows 7 as my only OS.

(UAC Turned off, and hacked it to make the desktop gadgets work again as they do not work when you turn UAC Off ???)

Everything works perfect, I have seen a graphics improvement, with the NVIDIA Drivers, for it, and the Audio is a lot lot better now.

PR runs fine if not better, I spent 2 hours in a server last night with no kicks, and PB Installed and updated fine.

The whole OS for me is very stable, and also very pleasing to the eye ....lol

I have had no problems whatsoever with any installations, I put everything back on I had previous, and am very impressed with it overall

Im getting told that I "Dont have O/S Priviliges" when I try to join any server. (Im guessing O/S is Operating System in this case)

Whats this compatibility mode you talk of?

I concur!

had some mysterious issues with CTDs on PB + xp64bit, made the jump to windows 7 yesterday and quite pleased with the results, everything installs fine, performance is better, sound is better, viva directx11!

only -tiny- issue was I had to dig out my old bf2 disc because daemon tools won't run yet, you can replace it with poweriso but its not compatible with mini-images, something about the safedisc emulation

I got windows 7 installed and bf2/PR works fine with some hitches concerning voip.

The biggest problem however is playing online:
Battlefield 2 & Project Reality mod issues : Windows 7 Application Compatibility : Windows 7 Beta : Microsoft TechNet Forums

Punkbuster kicks me with the following message: Restriction: Disallowed Program/Driver [125057]

I think it's the nvidia prerelease drivers that make PB go nuts. I made a ticket with evenbalance but odds are they'll just ignore it. I can try running some beta drivers to circumvent the problem, but thus far the wdm drivers are pretty sweet.

Really dont see why you would install windows 7 yet. Only thing it can do is result in more bugs

When ever you make a post the thread becomes awesome NickO, but that is beside the point.

I've been running windows 7 since the beta release, BF2 runs flawlessly with a few tweaks, I've had no problems with online play or compatibility, even in Sli mode.

PR needs a lot of 'handling' prior to win 7 use, there are a lot of access restrictions the program runs into, and punkbuster has a fit most days unless you manually go in and tell it what to do, which can cause tampering errors I've found.

Honestly tho, I've found less lag in win 7 then in Vista, but maybe that's because Microsoft cut down on the amount of crap they included in the OS.

hey everyone.. i thought i'd slip this little tidbit of help in here for everyone with windows 7 and having problems.

the following website appears to have fixed the problem. i have not had a chance to test this myself just yet, but i figure some of you may give it a go. here's the site:

Windows 7 Punkbuster fix - Brian H. Madsen - .Net Powered by Caffeine

i hope this works for everyone because i remember when i made the early jump to vista and PR wasn't working with it. i had to give up PR and now i feel like with windows 7 i can enjoy a better experience with the game. but i digress.. hope it works for everyone.
