Exclamation A display driver nvlddmkm has stopped responding and has recovered successfully.

Hi, I keep getting this error message whenever I play Battlefield 2.
A display driver nvlddmkm has stopped responding and has recovered successfully. Error
.
My computer specs are:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5000+ 2.61 GHz
3 GB of DDR2 533mhz RAM
Plug 'N' Play Monitor
EVGA Nvidia Geforce 9800gt SuperClocked Edition
MSI K9N6PgM2 Nvidia GeForce MCP61P + nForce 430 chipset based.
Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1 OEM version
A 450 Watt power supply (400 watt is what's needed)
.
It results in my screen flickering black, turning off, turning back on or just staying off until I restart my computer, with a triangle with an exclamation point inside of it in my task bar.
.
There are quite a lot of websites, that have threads about this, but no definite answer for it.
.
Now, what surprises me, is there's a post that has 113 pages of stuff(Was from 2007, and there would be more but people started flaming eachother so they had to lock it.), And there is no definite answer. People posted stuff that worked for them, the easy stuff, like turning off Windows Aero theme to underclocking your memory and modding your cooling system.
.
Here is a list of stuff I have tried:
1. Updated drivers to the newest version, the EVGA site has the same drivers as Nvidia lists.
2. Tried older Drivers, still no luck.
3. Tried Beta drivers, and nothing.
4. Tried my drivers that came with the card, and no luck still.
5. I used EVGA precision to clock the card to it's lowest settings.
6. Turned off Aero Theme, and that UAC thing.(memory Hogs)
7. Underclocked my RAM from 533mhz to 400MHZ.
8. My card was 60 Degrees while idle, so I turned the GPU fan to full blast, bringing it down to 40 degrees while idle and around 50 when ingame.
9. Ran it as an admin.
10. Tried compatability mode.
I tried to play CS:S, and I played that for about 10 minutes (to unbearable, going to try again.)
.
It used to happen about 30 minutes ingame, then it kept going down, from 30 to 10, from 10 to 5, and from 5 to maybe 30 seconds - 1 minute.
.
And people have had these problems with ATI cards also, a few had it with XP and I even had a friend that told me his mom's computer with an onboard graphics card did that.
.
So, has anybody had any experience with this?
I just wanted to ask the community and I'm about to start writing down information so I can call EVGA. I've had mixed feelings with Vista, although I'm not entirely sure that it's to blame.

I was able to play for maybe 3 days without this happening.

My computer is Not even a Week old yet(Will be a week tommarow)
And, like a lot of other people, it has seemed to pop out of the blue.

Edit: I tried CS:S, and the same thing happens.

Edit 2: I have upped my power supply from a 450 watt to a 550 watt with no success. Also tried some more drivers, still no success.
I had a friend tell me, that he got it also, and he could not play 4 games he bought. Luckily, he doesn't get it in BF2, but I seem to get it in all games. I tried playing and I was able to stay on for maybe, 4 or 5 minutes with the screen flickering, before it turned black and my computer froze, forcing a restart.

What happens when you open the case and put a fan blowing air in? Sounds to me like it could be a overheating problem.
Can you play BF2 OK?
Are you sure you don't have 50 - 40 Celsius (122f-104f)
50f for a video card justs sounds too cold.
I modded my case by putting an extra fan right across from the video card and it works wonders for me (ATI1950xt)
Anyway that's all I can think of.
Good luck

40-50 degrees celcius. And, when I tried to put the fan next to my computer, my screen went white and froze. At that point I put my 550 watt PSU in my computer, with no luck.

On the phone with EVGA... hopefully I can remember to write about how it goes.

EDIT: And, yea, I used to be able to play it fine. But the problem sprouted up maybe.... 4 days, or so within setting it up. It could be Vista updates, but we'll see.

I was able to play it on my crappy 7600gs and slow computer, which was running XP.

I heard it was Microsoft and Nvidia not getting along real well.

Edit 3: Called EVGA, they told me to run it with only one stick of RAM in it. I shall try it today/tommarow.

EDIT 4: Took my one gig stick out, no work. Go figure.
I will try, and make sure it is not overheating, again.

I've read some Nvidia uses are using some 3party drivers for their video card with success. I forget what they're called. Perhaps someone one knows?

I checked out a review of your video card here:
EVGA GeForce 9800 GX2 Video Card - Superclocked Edition by Tigerdirect -- Revver Online Video Sharing Network

In it he recommended at least a 600 wat PSU with a 6 molex connection for your card (what a fricken card!)

After watching the review I think you need to get the recommended PSU for the card.
The Thermaltake Toughpower 750-Watt Power Supply is recommended for your card. ($179.00 ouch)

Good luck you lucky dog
