Shader problem

[AOD_Morph]

Whenever I launch pr, the splash screen shows up then the screen goes black and i get the following error:

I tried to launch a few vanilla servers, and I can load maps and all. However when I get to the spawn screen, no flags or spawn points show. and there is no sound. Loading and menu music works fine. Checked the shader filepath in the error and it is indeed an empty folder.
Fh2 works fine. Poe2 does not.
Possible solutions without reinstalling?(i lost my cd key)

Try re-applying the 1.41 patch, that should fix it.

Please describe when your CTD or problem hits.

The most common causes of CTD are:

Lack of bf2 FULL update 1.41

Incomplete install of 'Core' & 'Levels'

Compatibility mode to xp and run as admin not set in desktop shortcut on Vista PCs

Running game below 1024x768 resolution

Quick check list:
BF2 installed
All earlier PR versions and desktop shortcuts deleted


Full 1.41 BF2 updater
PR 8 uses TWO installers
#1 Core installed FULL ( create desktop short checked)
#2 levels(maps) installed
(Vista users need to set compatibility mode to xp and run as admin in their desktop shortcut)
running game at 1024x768 res or higher same as your desktop.

punk buster uninstalled with pbsvc
reboot before reinstalling punk buster files with pbsvc( if your using Vista DO NOT set compatibility to XP, run as admin ok)
run pbsvc test/get all green on test
update bunk buster files with pbsetup
open firewall for punk buster and bf2 or turn off
If you still have trouble run battlefield cleaner to flush out your video cache files

Still no joy?

Trash your BF2 cache files
Path:
C:\Users\'your user name here'\Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache
Throw EVERYTHING inside the folder named cache away.
don't worry the files will be replaced with new ones when the game restarts.

Still have a turd in your lunch bucket?

Make a new player and try to join a server.
Don't worry about your settings yet,battlefield cleaner can transfer old settings to the new one later if this works.

As with any BF2 mod, if you have a crash, you need to restart that mod then quit out of it BEFORE moving on to play another BF2 mod or BF2. This will allow the mod cache files to be purged so they don't screw up the next BF2/mods you start.

Looks like reinstalling is your best bet if that above didn't help.

I cant reinstall as I've lost my CD key.
Cant buy a new game as I have no money, save what I need to buy presents for the holidays.
Tried all of the above to no effect.
Could it possibly be a hardware issue? As in the GPU failing somehow?

Specs:
Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 3
Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz (2 CPUs) [Bought in 2005]
2GB RAM [1 stick in 2005, the other in 2006]
NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT 512MB [2006]

Don't lose your CD Keys. Hope you've learned your lesson. And no, that's not a GPU error. That's an error of failing to load something.

If reinstalling BF2 patch doesn't work, only reinstall of game will.

But one LAST thing you can POSSIBLY try. Is just reinstall PR.

Copy mods/pr/shaders_client.zip to mods/bf2/shaders_client.zip, backing up the bf2 one if it exist (pretty sure it won't, hence the error). Note that this will screw up vBF2 for you if you want to continue playing that. Do a BF2 reinstall to fix vBF2.

The file isnt in the pr folder so I'm going to try and reinstall pr and see if its there.
