Under system properties, what is your rating of Windows Experience Index, check that rating by components and if you find any component rated below 5.9, with your machine specs, it will point you to direction of your problem.

You NEED to disable the TLB FIX in BIOS or use AMD's overdrive and
click the icon in the top right corner until it's yellow or red.

As I expected it pointed us somewhere, when you fix your problem both scores will & should be 5.9.

ATI is a real pain in the *** when you have to uninstall its drivers. It is best to clean it from Safe Mode using Driver Cleaner Pro, but its been reported that it wont work properly under Vista 64.

So, prepare yourself new drivers to install and CCleaner, then try to uninstall everything named ATI using add/remove programs, manually delete folder C:\ATI, reboot, clean your computer registry using CCleaner or similar, reboot and, when the system is up, install new ATI drivers.

Hope it will help,

did you bought your machine all assembled, with installed OS, or you did it on your own?
I'm asking this because hardware incompatibility between graphic card and motherboard can cause troubles like yours, but I'm hoping that this is not your case.

Did you installed all available updates for Vista? SP1? SP2?

SocketMan's advice?

Try to check your BIOS options, if you have some graphic booster option, set it on Turbo.
