I've been using Omega display drivers for my 8800GT but a few months ago I tried the latest nvidia drivers which came out the middle of the year. However I found with these drivers I had a digital click/pop noise in my right headphone so I rolled back the driver.
Recently I've tried the 178.15 driver (came out in Sept and seems to have had good reports) but I'm again gettings this annoying popping sound in my right ear. My soundcard is a Terratec 7.1 Universe, however I use a Plantronics headset when playing the game and even if I disable the Terratec it still happens. Also I have already disabled my onboard sound card too. It is almost like a digital click at the end of every sound sample in the game (although it doesn't happen all the time, but more when there is action and/or an abundance of ambient sounds). I've tried changing my sound settings through their various combinations but to no avail. Presently they are on hardware, medium, eax on, the same as before with Omega drivers. Even when changing these settings the actual sound (pitch etc) of the click/pop doesn't change so I don't think it's anything to do with these settings. Also it occurs with another set of more professional headphones through a mixing desk from the audio out of my soundcard, it sounds a bit different but it's still there, so I'm not sure if it's a usb thing. I don't want to be stuck with Omega drivers (although good they're getting dated) so I need to get this fixed. Any ideas fellas? Intel(R)Pentium(R) D 3.20Ghz 2gb 8800gt 512 650/1625/939 |

You could try moving your pci cards to different slots if you have them fitted. If you're using an X-Fi soundcard you could find a pci usb card can conflict with IRQ.
