I have what you call an old rig, (i call it my premium gaming rig ) AMD 3500+, 2 GB RAM, x1950 agp etc etc..

When my replacement mouse arrived... bam.. i was back in the game. My in-game common mouse senstivity is set to 0.9 with 2000dpi and it works like a charm, and is anything but slow at moving around. My highest sensitivity setting is for Choppers and that's at 3.0

Settings like 5.0 and 10.0 seem totally nuts to me. So i'd suggest high dpi on the mouse and low settings in-game.
Shine on, Tommy, shine on

I'll give this a whack when I get home; it definately sounds plausable!

Cheers folks, I'll let you know the results.

As for the no-software thing; I think it was Viglen_UK I quote saying "Why do you need the software? It's a mouse. If it works when you plug it in you're good to go"

yeah definately lower your sensitivity and rather adjust the dpi of the mouse (the higher the more sensitive)

and install the software it will provide drivers which i doubt that they will harm - it will also supply more cool features

dk if that logitec software supports it but probably: you can set a button to toggle the sensitvity instantly, like when you run around you will have ur normal sens but when sniping or in a gunner seat u can hit the button and thus reduce the sensitivity which will give u more accuracy (thats how i do it)

Got a PROBLEM? Check this:

I'll give this a try on Sunday when I'm back from my lass' place. It seems like the way to go;

The Logitech G7 Gaming Mouse has a + - button for it's 3 DPI settings and a little LED indicator telling you which one it's on, so that's that sorted

Clean your mouse and mousepad, especially when it's a laser mouse.
Im serious, there is a noticeable difference, I always do that before playing CoD4.

In your windows CP, put the pointer speed at the middle setting - 6th from the left. Make sure Enhance Pointer Precision is off. I've heard those two settings can foul things up a bit. G7s a nice mouse, got the G5 myself. Lasted me years.

Well just to keep you updated guys, I had a round last night and tried MadTommy's suggestion of setting my sensitivity in game to about 1.0 - 2.0 (instead of the 5.0 I used to play on) and upping my mouse default sensitivity to 2000dpi.

Seemed to work wonders; it's a bit confusing jumping in vehicles and having to press the button to lower it to stop my neck from snapping, but yes it does seem to have done the trick (Not tried to take super long shots yet but focusing on far-off landscape seems much more improved) and whats best, this is on the highest setting; I can lower it two further times for super super long shots.

Cheers for all your help guys.
