problem with latest patch

I everyone, first post here, hope it won't be the last

I've been playing bf2 demo for quite a while, and I decided to buy the game today because I wanted to play PR.
Before I updated to 1.41 patch, no problem, bf2 was working fine.
But after I installed the patch, once I type my password below my bf2 login, I crash to desktop all the time

They say on EA website it could be related to my hardware, but bf2 without any patches was working fine

Any idea to solve my problem?
Here's my config:
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.20GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory: 1022MB RAM
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
Card name: ATI MOBILITY RADEON X600
It's a laptop, quite old and laggy

Did you install the 1.4 Full Patch (530 MB) before installing 1.41?

Nope I didn't, I thought a 500mb patch was enough to contain all the patches since release

But I've downloaded the 1.4, so im gonna uninstall the game and reinstall 1.4 then 1.41.

Btw, I've managed to play in singleplayer, no lag, perfect.
But when I wanna play online, as soon as I type the password of my online account, I crash to desktop

Do you have any Firewalls or anti virus active?

You never know with BF2, slight errors during patching and stuff like that can break stuff big time.

Just try to do a clean install with BF2 1.0 -> 1.41 and check again

(I forgot that there is a 1.41 full patch, thats why I asked, my fault)

I've tried already with norton disabled, it still doesnt work :/
I'm gonna try to do to it with a new account.
(I managed to play online with bf2 1.0, don't understand why I can't after update :/)
Gonna do what you're advising me tomorrow, it's too late for a full install

Anyway, thx for the help so far

Do you have the Windows firewall turned on or off? I've got mine off but maybe it causes problems.

(No probs mate, had to reinstall BF2 so often I stopped counting... lol)

Still not working

Now, either my comp crash, or my screen turn black and I can just hear bf2 theme song..
Has there been any update _ graphical update _ since bf2 1.0 ?

I've managed to make everything work fine

First game on PR yesterday, first kills, this game is awsome, so much more intense than bf2
