Voip Lagging me in the game

Well first this is my first post i guess been playing and reading this forums since 0.5, after i start playing pr with voip on my ping starts spiking and going to 300s on any server even if no one is talking and this only happend after pr went 0.75 . Also i only got problems on my pc couse if i play on my bro's pc which has same internet its fine i dunno if you guys can help me but thanks anyway .

T10 connection 18mb/s avrage
Avrage ping for EU is 30-60

I have had lag with VIOP but no all the time and not in any particular server.
I bought a cheapo sound card but it makes the "commander" type messages sound totally chopped up so I still use the onboard sound card.
Occasionally it seems that the VIOP lag will drop me to desktop.

Please post your O/S and system specks when asking for help.
It makes it much easer for us to help you.

Try running sound in "hardware" @ med. settings if your running in software.

My pc is the one that has main connection to the internet and im using t10 20mb/s comcast i have no routers connected to the other pc only a small hub
which connects my laptop for work and gives sharing of internet to my brothers.

I noticed that most of you guys don't really read what people say you just shot answers so please read this.

This only happend in PR mod all or any other mods work fine with Voip also if me and my brother play pr same time he can use voip perfectly while i can't, if i turn off his pc or d/c him from the network still the same for me im a Computer Tech and im sure its not hardware problem but its
something with software, i build and moded my own pc so i know what i got.

Edit: I forgot to say that instead of Voip, i use Vent sometimes with my clan :/ but ovisly i want to interact with all the people inside the game not only my clan mates.

What do you use for firewall?
Is your network like this:
Cable to cable modem
cable modem to unmanaged hub
Hub to computers

What are the differences between your brothers computers and yours?
I would guess he's not using a firewall.

I agree it sound like a software glitch most likely in your firewall settings.
Check on ping flood protection or something similar causing you ping to go up like "packet inspection" turned on.
I've read where firewalls have cutoff traffic mistaking voip data as a flood attack.

What sound settings are you using in game?

We only use the sp2 windows firewall

and the connection of the lan is Modem>hub>other computers

i don't know about ping flood ping between each other is 1-2ms

Check you windows firewall setup and make sure bf2 and/or
pr.exe are alowed.
I use a d-link "gamers lounge" router that auto opens ports depending on which game I input in to it.
The ports opened for BF2 are:
TCP Ports
80, 4711, 29900, 29901, 29920, 28910

UDP Ports
1500 - 4999, 16567, 27900, 29900, 29910, 27901, 55123, 55124, 55215

not sure which port is voip

Sorry I can't be of more help.
I haven't run XP myself in quite some time,even tho I maintain my wifes PC with Xp on it(one of my old game boxes I was nice enough to give her),
I tend to leave it alone.
