Is the shortcuts issue related to download versus CD-retail versions of BF2? I have the same problem with FH2 as I did with PR. See the FH2 forum thread at FH2.exe not working - FileFront Gaming Forums
Not sure if there's any better threads, advice out there-I am at a loss to get these mods working with an EA-downloaded copy of Battlefield 2:Complete collection. I've been through a full erase-check-reinstall, checked and rechecked links and file placement, but nothing works for either mod. Does it matter that I can get the AIX mod to work fine? My system, if it helps determine a cause: Desktop PC: Sony Vaio VGC-RA840G Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 2.80GHz (2 CPUs) Memory: 4000MB RAM Hard Drive: 242 GB Video Card:WinFast PX7900 GTX Sound Card:Realtek HD Audio rear output Operating System: Windows media center, sp2. (though on a scan the OS comes up as: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.070227-2254)). |

Also-still wondering why the AIX mod works. If it's a problem with which .exe starts to verify the game (see FH2 post referenced above), then the AIX mod should also fail because it is an executable just like FH2 and PR.

Hi, just recently uninstalled pr for issues with punkbuster and I re-did the shortcut and changed it to the correct words, but I still get the warning message. Oh and when I played the game before I did the same thing and it worked. Please help me.

"I still get the warning message" is a little vague, let me presume you refer to the PR.exe warning.
Reinstall the following in order if you haven't done so. 1.41 patch core levels Reread help guide for PR.exe shortcut fix(This really should be a sticky) Check your BF2 main folder and make sure BF2.exe and PR.exe are in the same folder. Path in XP is: C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2 Note: PR.exe is a text file 887 k Run game program(restart PR game from PRs desktop shortcut) Post any error messages back here Good Luck |

Instead, I listened to a guy in game a few days ago, and he told me about the 'custom game' screen under the 'community' tab in the BF2 start screen. Instead of starting PR from the desktop, I run BF2 then select PR from the custom game screen. It runs! (badly at first via MD5tool mismatch errors, but I fixed that as well-check the MD5tool threads for that fix).

It's considered a cheat and most servers will get you kicked for that (or at least use my fix to swap the shader files).

i have all of the above done and its all how it should be... at least it looks like it to me
in the Target line there is : "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" and in the Start In Line there is :"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr" that looks ok to me because if i change it exactly to what is put down there it says the file doesn't exist and the game still doesn't work |

"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" Start in: "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\" |

Which is considered a cheat, swapping the shaders to fix the md5 tool mismatch? I swap the shaders back-and-forth, clearing my cache and redoing my video settings whenever I decide to play BF2 or PR. It takes a bit of doing, but there have been no problems in-game.
