New user, launch problem (help!).

Hi guys. New user here, got a problem starting your game.

Running 32-bit Vista ultimate. BF2 v1.41. PR mod 0.75 installed, levels installed, double-click the desktop icon that was created, get a screen telling me I must launch using the PR-Exe and not the BF2.exe. Tried launching from the icon in the mod's folder, says it can't find bf2.exe. Stumped. Tried changing the desktop icon's target-field to the pr-exe, didn't work, got same warning screen.

Don't know what's gone wrong, can you please help, really need to try this mod as the stock game wore thin at about the same moment I pumped three rounds into my brother's face and he laughed before shooting me dead.

Right click the shortcut, and click run as administrator<- all vista users have to do it this way.

Thanks chaps, I went into the BF game and fired it up via the custom games.

I'm absolutely loving the mod so far, it's immersive as hell. Problem is I keep getting booted out by punkbuster. Chap told me everyone has it disabled, and I've de-selected it in the filter, but the servers I try to go on still have it on and won't let me in with it disabled. I won't bore you with the grief I had just trying to get into a server at all before I disabled Vista UAC.

Any tips on that one?

Whoa matey, if u enter the game that way PB will kick you as a cheater because the supression effect in PR will not load. Hold on a second, if the above didn't work i'll link a thread to a FIX.

btw, did you get BF2 via digital download?

EDIT- Make sure ur shortcut is targeting "C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe"+modPath mods/pr +menu 1 +fullscreen 1

If still having problems the below should fix it, but I'd post in the thread with ur details to make sure (unsure about the differences of vista ultimate to more common versions)

I have vista but i don't need to run it as a administrator. It runs fine without it.

I'm assuming you turned UAC off then?

Yes, digital download.

I have UAC turned off, so running the program with admin rights should no longer be necessary? It's not even an option anymore, the box is greyed-out. But I still can't launch the game off the desktop icon.

The link you gave provided a further link to a file to be put into a folder, but that file doesn't show up after following the link. I'm not even going to go near that batch-file stuff, especially as it clearly states it won't work with Vista (like most things it would seem, had it just a few days and I've had nothing but the worst kind of grief with it. SP1 fix? My ***).

The desktop icon's target-field is correct.

The last time I had this kind of trouble with multiple games was trying to get stuff running in DOD with DX5. Right now I'm pretty p****d, was in the middle of a pretty intensive duel with a sniper when I got booted yet again by punkbuster. Somebody ought to shove punkbuster up the punk's ***. So far this mod absolutely rocks, which is making my inability to play it all the more frustrating.
