You are correct regarding UAC

If its digital download I think you have to download the .BAT files from the thread I linked

http://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-...ghlight=pr.exe

I see you downloaded it, the files worked for me- i'm using vista home edition and the digital download. But since its a digital download version I expect the only practical way around this problem is via deadfast's fixes.

No problem helping out mate, but I hope deadfast sees this thread and works his magic

But what is the actual problem with ur shortcut?

Are you getting a request for you to run pr.exe
does the shortcut display an error?

are you using vista?

I suggest that all problems relating to the .bat fix get posted in deadfast's thread otherwise its going to get messy in here.

You little beaut, it worked a treat. I've been playing solidly since your post above. I'll have to go post my thanks in that other thread too.

This mod...aye carumba, it's a piece of work! Absolutely straight out of the top drawer. Incredible. It looks fantastic and it plays fantastic. I'm blown away. Hats off to you guys, it's the best shooter I've played, and I've played shed-loads.

Where should Project Reality v0.856 be installed?

C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2

or

C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\Battlefield 2

The installer says that setup will install the 'Project Reality Core' into the 'Battlefield 2' folder.
But won't that make a big mess and potentially ruin both Battlefield 2 and PR Mod?

Setup, of course, gives the option to browse.

Shouldn't PR Mod be installed in the 'mods' folder?
Or does that happen automatically by clicking on 'Next' for what setup provides, i.e., the 'Battlefield 2' folder?

Aside from the need to Update Punkbuster from evenbalance.com, Update Graphics Card Drivers, Add Firewall Permissions, Delete Old PR Folders, Files, & Shortcuts, or Increase Screen Resolution, etc..., I suspect that this may be why people are having problems with the new version already.

Could someone please respond.

Thank You,

once installed it should be in battlefield2/mods/pr <--- all the levels folders and such go here in the pr folder

that your question?

The setup wizard prompts me with:

'C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2'

(notice that it is not the same as/ does not mention the 'mods' folder subdirectory)

It doesn't look right to me because all PR Mod stuff in the past has been found in the
'C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\ ' folder

I'm hesitant to click on 'Next' because, from what it appears, the 0.856 PR files will get mixed in with the Vanilla BF2 files (if I follow what the setup wizard is prompting) instead of installing it into the separate 'mods' folder and maybe there might be some sort of program conflicts in running the game.

Its asking you where BF2 is installed, it knows to put it in the mod folder, so go ahead and click next
