Default The PB shader thing.

Thought this might be "worth" a post.

The shaders pb problem.

First,
I also newly got the pb kick on shaders,
I give you my take bellow and a maybe a solution if you happens to have the same "setup", that is also having/playing FH2 mod.

If you do any thing that I am writing about in this post, you do it on your own risk and I suggest backup at all time.

---

After comparing a couple of similar computers with same stuff installed BF2/FH2/PR with directory compare I found the following in my case and perhaps it can solve problems for others, reason I started was that my son did not get kicked by PB even that we have the same setup.

On my non working box the situation was:

mods\bf2
shaders_client.zip (which was the file for FH2 ~187kb)
shaders_client.zip-vanilla (original BF2 shader file probably renamed by FH2 mod ~219kb)

mods\fh2
(lacking the shaders_client.zip that apparently did reside in bf2 folder)
shaders_client.zip.backup ~187kb

----

On a correct box:

mods\bf2
shaders_client.zip ~219kb

mods\fh2
shaders_client.zip ~187kb
shaders_client.zip.backup ~187kb

----

So in my case I moved the:
mods\bf2\shaders_client.zip
to
mods\fh2\shaders_client.zip

-

then I renamed:
mods\bf2\shaders_client.zip-vanilla
to
mods\bf2\shaders_client.zip

----

My take on the problem, (speculation)
I guess that FH2 mod crashed in game at some time and leaving the files in that state.
Then on the subsequential start of the mod because the files where not in the right places it just skipped the cleaning act restoring shaders_client.zip-vanilla to it's original name.

So IMO bad luck and a oversight in fh2.exe might have caused this problem.

I will post a follow up tonight/tomorrow with the result of my "restore" above.

Last,
Thanks for the GREAT PR mod, it's the among the best if not the best FPS reality oriented games I ever played!

It's unbelievably the amount of functionality you managed to get into this mod, real hard to even belive that it's BF2 in the "bottom".

I found this sentence quite funny and since this is a war game forum I will put it here. No offense to the french just a good laugh.

I've got a bat scripts running there that do exactly what you've described.

Does this mean that the kicks are removed by moving the files manually?

I would say yes if,

1) You have both FH2 and PR mod on and using them.
2) The files in your directory look like my description in the first post under the: <On my non working box the situation was:>

Again,
Always backup before doing things, and it's on own "risk".
