as far as i know u cannot use 2 ati's on a mobo which supports SLI - SLI is an nVidia technology ati's counter is "Crossfire" so u need a new "Crossfire" mobo to get those dual ATIs working

mmh the 8800 series cant support x3... You will need the new 9000er series of nvidia which can support up to 3 cards... but well i dont exactly if the 8800 Ultra can be used 3x... but i know the 8800 GTX cant

Thats exactly what i meant m8. The money you could spend on a 3 way SLI would be less than what you would spend on a pair of 3870x2 and a motherboard which is crossfire capable.

= 570 quid-ish, thats a motherboard and 2 x x2's.

XFX GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (PV-T80F-SHF9) x3

= 660 quid-ish, thats for 3 x 8800gtx, assuming he even has a 3 way SLI capable motherboard, its still cheaper to go for the Crossfire option.

IMHO, both are an absurd waste of money when a few months away they will inevitably be replaced by a faster and cheaper alternative.

CodeCseven, you can use 8800 ultra or gtx but not a mixture of the 2 types.
