Unhappy 2 seperate Issues with Voip and Fools Road....

Hi,
My first problem is VoIP...
What happens is during my first round of PR, VoIP works fine, then about 30mins(approx) into the second round, it cuts out (i.e. I can't transmit). It's not my hardware because when I press my assigned voip transmit key (default "B") The green speaker symbol does not show up on the right hand side of the screen...
People have mentioned that this is a known bug, that belongs to bf2...

Anyone know How to fix this?

Second Problem is Fools Road...
Every other maps seems to work well on my machine, the only map that I seem to be having problems with is fools road.
I move to a new location, im running somewhere and then BAM! There is NO activity upon my screen... I get an occasional frame change, and the constant sound effect looping over and over! No warning prior to crash(i.e. low fps).
I have to do a hard reboot to get the PC going again (or the alternative, pressing ESC *waiting 5mins* moving the mouse to the "EXIT" button on the menu *another 15mins or so*... EXITING *no repsonse*)

Ny PC Spec:
2Gb RAM
Dual Core CPU (2Ghz on each core)
Nvidia 7900GS
X-Fi XGamer

I don't understand why this is happening, there is no excuse... My PC is more than capable of running PR on high settings (with AA disabled, due to it being set in the nvidia CP to 4x because in the ingame AA sucks balls)

If the HHD does not need to be refered to during the crash, then it shouldn't be a RAM issue.

What's happening here, and is anyone else experiencing the same problems?

NOTE: Both these problems have only started since I:
= Upgraded my RAM from 1Gb to 2Gb (1Gb replaced with Kingston 2x1Gb).
= Changed the Video Options in BF2/PR "Textures/Terrain" to "High".

Any responses greatly appreciated...

I'm assuming you're running XP? If so then your hardware is definitely not the issue.

Have you tried setting the textures back to something lower and seeing if it still freezes? Also, have the latest nvidia drivers (stupid and demeaning question, but I gotta ask it)?

Nice sig btw.

i disagree - 2GB RAM is only minimum requirement - which would lead me to say you don't have enuff ram
(especially if u turned off the pagefile)

when running the game tab to windows and check your ram usage (ProcessExplorer or TaskManager)- infact i am running win xp with ~650MB right now (i admit running a few background programs - but ATI's CCC takes ~90, iE eats up ~100)

also maybe you got a driver issue - which could give the CPU too much work with interrupts

Ok, ta guys...

A few additional info I have found:

= My Pagefile is set to on (default amount allocated by windows)
= I ran CPUZ because someone recomended it to me... CPUZ says my ram clock speed is 266MHz even though the ram stated on the packaging says 533MHz (Im not sure but does the term "DDR2" mean that the clock speed is multiplied by 2? if so then it does add up to 533MH).
= On CPUZ It says "Link Width x8" & "Max supported x16" under PCI-E Device...does that seem right? My card is a x16 and my Mobo does support x16 also... so why does it say x8?
= I have latest Nvidia & X-Fi drivers.
= I do have XP SP2 (Media Center Edition 05)
= My there is never an issue with Low FPS on PR... (Avg i'd says is 50+ definetly)

Ok the most revealing thing I have found is the fact that on a Local game (Fools Road) of my ram usage is: 1.6Gb (Average FPS: 70)

Whats with this "High Performance, Performance, Quality & High Quality?"...I have mines set to high quality because im having no problems with fps atmo, is there a difference in BF2/PR in temrs of quality when I set it to High Performance...Any difference at all?
(Forgot to mention: My Pc has crashed once also on a full server of qwai and Training map of kashan).

What is your framerate on quinling? Fools road is a bit more needy, because there are just so many statics that need to be rendered, but if you're having trouble on Fools Road and it is the overall quantity of objects then you should see some lower numbers in quinling, although it's possible they're not low enough to notice.

It might be your RAM, although I don't know anyone who has that much RAM and issues. Is that ram usage with no background programs? If so that seems really high, don't know what's going on there.

2GB of RAM is plenty to run BF2 ...

Just some random suggestions im throwing out here ...

A. Nothing overheating ?
B. Defragged lately ?
C. Checked for viruses ?

Sarge

as for your voip problem:
i think someone said that leaving and rejoining the squad would work - as for me - i think i had to restart pr to get rid of it

@banner: might be right, but its not "just" bf2 its PR + windows + tones of background processes - plenty is really not the right word here

I get a similar issue on my machine except it happens on most maps when the players reachs 55+ frames drop to around 15 and everything just goes nasty... and my old boy can play Bioshock on max :P

Hi, this has happens a few time more since myt first post...My thought is it's a the Video card issue and not the ram...

Last time i was pateint...i waited and waited to see what would happen, and then something strange started to happen. my screen started to go weird colours...stripes of green, purple and black horizontally and vertically across the bf2 main menu (still visible)...

So im sure it has to be my video card... like someone mentioned, there's too many objects on fools road... my card only has 256Mb ram, maybe this is the problem...

Any thoughts?
