Default X-Fi Extreme Gamer and .7

Have always played PR with a Creative X-Fi Extreme Gamer and would select from the drop down menu in Audio options "Creative X-FI" and "Very High". Since installing .7 I can no longer use this choice as it tells me this hardware configuration is not compatible ro somethign to that effect (I'm at work so i can get the e3xact error when I get home).

In turn I must select the "Hardware" option and can still leave it on "Very High" but I just want to make sure this is the best configuration for .7 sound.

My question is, is "Hardware" a better or worse config then "Creative X-Fi" in the Audio options?

Thanks.

worse, you might want to reinstall the drivers, or shift the card to another pci slot and back again.

I think [R-DEV]Fullforce went through something similar to this recently, find the thread he started (I believe it was him) otherwise just search on all his posts and spend 5/10 minutes looking for the discussion with screenshots

I had this problem; it's now solved.

Unfortunately (and I'm really sorry about this) I cannot remember for the life of me how I fixed it.

Think I just reset all the BF2 settings to default, closed the game completely, restarted it and tried again a few times.

Might have dropped Hardware Acceleration for audio down a single notch in DIXDIAG.EXE too.
