Default Is it bad graphics card or PSU?

Recently my system http://cid-dac0b9f41d4e56af.spaces.l...?wa=wsignin1.0
has started to lag/stutter in PR. It starts off fine then out of nowhere it freezes and the sound repeats for about 2 or 3 seconds. I have switched to DDR2 memory but that has not fixed it. I now believe it be the Graphics card dieing or the PSU not giving enough juice.

Have you got manufactuers software saying what temps the card is at?

I had the sapphire x800gto2 limited edition I flashed the bios of and oced to x850 speeds, but only after getting a Zalman flower for it.

It might be worth splashing out £17 on the basic alu/copper flower for that card to see if it is merely a failing fan

Oh, is the fan enclosed and have you got it out and checked the fan run offs are not blocked with skin particles and pet stuff? I've had no end of frustration with closed fan systems. Will eventually get an open one for my current x1950pro due to what joy i experienced with the zalman flower I bought for my last x800gto2

I will probably get a new card in the new year.
A 8800GT if they are available. The fan seems fine at the moment and I have run ATI Tray tools to force the speed high and it did not make a difference. Thing is I can run Crysis no problem at Medium to High settings Half Life 2 runs well too.

XP corrupts, software corrupts.

Do you use drivercleanerpro between changing video drivers for new ones?

uninstall, use DCpro, then reset.
Delete BF2 video cache (or the whole thing if you are lazy)
Install new drivers, reset.
Run game and setup options again.

Alternatively, reinstall windows! With a working ghost image or slipstreamed disc to reduce the time. I am about to reinstall my machine as something I keep installing to use frequently slows down my gaming chronically. One day I'll remember to keep an install journal and figure out what it is that keeps doing it to me.
