Could even be a memory leak of some sort. Have you checked your background apps?
A good program to try is end it all, cant remember where to get it, but all it does is show you what is running, and all you do is click the apps to totally kill them, till you run them again. It could tell you if it is a memory problem. |

Could be apps in the background, very possibly. So it is not worth getting a new PSU I'm assuming if it seems to run okay...
Interestingly enough, I ran Crysis on high graphics today with no hitches, and the same for PR infact. Perhaps its just time to reformat, my hard disks are a bit messy.. but it is so much effort making sure I do not loose all my music. Thanks for all the advice guys. |

Sounds like your HDD might be fragmented. The lag could be caused by long access times caused by the fragmentation. You should try to defrag first.
There's a build-in defragmentator in Windows XP, but to be honest, it's crap. Try O&O Defrag instead. You can get version 4 for free (registration required) at their website. |

You can find the download here:
http://www.oo-software.com/smb/en/download/archive/ However I'm unable to find the get-a-free-license option. Maybe they've canceled it ? |

Yeah, sorry it's not here anymore. They've remade the web since my last visit (which was some time back) and most likely decided to remove it. But I managed to find even older version - O&O Defrag 2000 Also Auslogic Disk Defrag is said to be good. I have no personal experiences with it, though. | |

It's your card man. VPU recovery error is an ATI error reporting process. That 1950 PRO is a hell of a lot more card than the 2600xt even though the 2600 supports DX10.
Either there are remnants of the 1950's install (did you delete the old drivers before the uninstall?) or just reinstall the 1950 again. |
