What happen when you open the BF2VoiceSetup in your BF2 folder?
The VOIP is also intergrated in the game. Your provider should also support VOIP.

When during game the default button is 'B' to talk to your squad.

I hope this helps

VOIP = Voice over Internet Protocol. That can be any program or service that uses the Internet to transfer voice communications such as Phone service, Teamspeak, Skye etc, and is included in the BF2 program.

You do not have to download it. You have downloaded and are using a generic VoIP program. I suggest you delete it and set up your in-game VoIP. You can keep team speak though for an auxiliary voice program in or out of game.

If you haven't done so at the install of BF2 go to;
- My computer/Local Disk/Program Files/EA Games/Battlefield 2
- Click on BF2VoiceSetup.
- Follow instructions

Next go to your in game sound options to check the threshold level.

while you are in sound options check the audio renderer box for either hardware or software or Creative X-Fi hardware, depending on if you have a add-on hardware sound card an X-Fi card or integrated (on-board)software sound)

Yeah i know that now about the VOIP, i got rid of it.

The problem still remains though, on the BF2 voice set up it doesn't detect my voice (even though i can hear myself through the headset and i know trhe headset is working).
Plus when i click save changes it just crashes.

I tried all 3 sound options, hardware, software & X-Fi, neither picked up my voice.

I have a USB microphone headset. Maybe it's a problem because BF2 is trying to pick up the mic & ear phones from the jacks, rather than the USB?
See, my headset has 2 jacks, 1 for speaker one for mic, they both plug into a little box which controls volume & mute on/off, 7 the box leads to the USB plug.
Thats the only problem i can think of it being. That its trying to pick it up from the mic & headphone jack on the back of my PC.

You not supposed to hear yourself through your headset in game...open your sound control ...go to options/properties and choose playback, also make sure the mic box is checked...close that and mute the mic from the main play control mic column. Make sure the volume is at least half way up.

I'm guessing your computers about a month old then, if that is the case it is a real antique by now, and if its more than 2 months old, have you thought about donating it to a museum, lol.
