Default Excellent FPS yet stuttering?

Specs:

Windows Vista 32bit
8800GTX 768MB (101.70)
2GB PC8500 Ram
Intel Core 2 Duo E6700

The FPS I get isn't the issue here, it rockets, but the stuttering on certain maps is something else. I run the game at the maximum settings (Dyn. lights is on full, 1440 * 900, etc) - Al Basrah is unplayable (as soon as the map loads it just stutters), Sunset City is fairly unplayable, whenever I turn the gun 90 degrees the game seems to cache something so I get stuttering, along with various other maps.

Why is this? Surely on a set-up like mine it should be able to run flawlessly? BF2 Vanilla runs absolutely perfectly.... as does every other game. Is it a bug? I can see no plausible hardware explanation on my part.

Tuning down the settings is a bit of a bummer given the set-up.

i had a similar problem.. try disabeling the QOS on your network card... it did the trick for me

Jarek Mace told me:

Under your network adapter properties disable QOS see if that helps.

I guess I have a similar problem. My specs suck, but BF2, and all other mods run flawlessly. But with PR, it runs smoothly for awhile, then every couple minutes, it just freezes for .5-1 second, then runs again. Even with all my settings on Low it still happens.

PR is very memory hungry even with a good rig, make sure you have your Page File set up properly....read my guide here

When you drop to desktop and bring your Task Manager up, is a svchost.exe going high? (it's the one relating to sound drivers)

Ok, I've tried every suggestion.

I've disabled QOS - same stuttering.

I've increased the page file to 1.5x my physical ram - same stuttering.

Al Basrah loads fine but then as soon as I click Join, the map stutters down agonisingly slowly, the sound is stuttered... I can't do anything because the mouse only moves once every 20 seconds.

EDIT: Lowering the settings helped alot but again... when I asked someone with an 8800GTS whether or not they could play with max settings and get no lag he said yes.... dunno what's going on.

How confident are you of this? If its just Vista then I can live with it but I don't want to have find out I have a bad memory module or something.

In addition to the stuttering I often get this error:

In Vanilla and PR. It occurs after about 2 hours playing when I press Esc. to get to options or half way through loading a new map.

I just hope I can pin my problems on Vista because otherwise its something else, namely hardware corruption of some sort.
