Its a software or OS problem, someone linked a file to fix it.

Before you start up the game bring up Task Manager and write down what the Commit Charge is (should be bottom right corner).

That one error makes it seem like you are possibly running out of memory.

Since you said that increasing your paging file did not fix the stuttering, here is another idea. Check to see if your drives need to be defragmented. A highly fragmented drive will cause a lot of hard drive readingw hich can cause stuttering.

Couldn't possibly point me in its direction?

Doesn't say Commit Charge in Vista, says Page file though, here is a screeny:

It just seems to be one problem after the next:

I ran a test with vanilla BF2, I stuck AA and AF up to 16x, loaded up the game, joined a full 64 player server and it ran totally smoothly for the first 5 minutes and then slowly but surely the stuttering came up. How is this possible? Usually when you join a busy 64 player server, there is lag to start with, but here the stuttering hits 5 minutes in. Memory leak?

My page file was running at ~2300/5000

Losing my rag.

Same prob here

Same specs except I have an E6600 and 2GB of pc6400 with a Raptor X. I also defragged, corrected paging, and disabled QOS. No luck.

I had a similar problem in Red Orchestra when I had XP, but there was a lot less stuttering, it was only two maps, and it was playable. It is a known bug with 8800s in that game and XP, Vista fixes the prob. In PR it is related to Vista? and it is on the border of being unplayable. It goes away after awhile but it's near impossible to hit anything while it's happening. I'd be willing to bet it has to do with both Vista and the 8800 drivers.

try a total reformat (reinstall windows)

then if that dosn't fix it go and get some diffrent ram and plug it in, or try each of your sticks individually and see if one of them are the cuplret.

Other games that require as much or more RAM work great. Plus I've ran memtest recently with a clean bill of health. The RAM is 2 months old. Reformatting would take a whole day reinstalling progs and and drivers, if I was going to do that, might as well just go back to XP. I guess I'll just have to wait to see if future PR releases or Vista updates make the game playable.

I just found solution to my stuttering.

I used to stutter even my fps and ping were great. Stuttering started month ago and i was like wtf? But week ago I found that I had second network card what i really hadnt.

I found that I remembered that i've installed virtual networkcard and had all the time a virtual lan. After I disabled the virtual network card, no more stuttering for me Damn I was happy after that.

Just one last thing to try m8, try setting your page file to a second hard drive if you have one and this will eliminate that as a possible cause of drama for you.

I also get a lot of stuttering when compared to another BF2 mod, EoD say.

My frame rate is very high, as I've lowered my video options right down to test, and it's still not very smooth. I've also disabled my QoS on my Network Card, which did make a big difference. I have 2GB of RAM.

I can only assume it's something to do with the server as I don't get the same stutter when playing large single player games. I hope the problem can be identified as it's a little annoying.
