Default DVDs and Unsupported Formats

So I have this dvd of my first amateur fight, but I can't seem to get it working. I can play it on tv, and for like 10 seconds, I could play it on my computer when I set the resolution to 800x600 and 16bit color.

But other than that it doesn't work. I've tried converting it using the DivX plus converter, but when I try to open it it says it's an unsupported format. I've downloaded a few codecs but no go.

Any suggestions?

Sigless.

There is a tool called "GSpot" that might help you figure out what codec and version the video has so you can get the right one.

Ah thanks, totally forgot about gspot.

Apparently the converted file doesn't work at all. I tried it with the file from the DVD, and it shows that everything is fine but I still can't play it. Weird.

You could also check "DVD Flick", it makes your DVD compatible with most DVD players and automatically recodes and makes the DVD package with menus, chapters and selectable subtitles, it even burns the DVD itself.

No go, but thanks anyway. Seems like the files are corrupted or truncated. Damn scratches.

I never had the need to try any of these but unless your disk is see through (i.e. the reflecting foil is damaged) you should be able to fix it.

Also try different drives, some are more error tollerant than others. From my experience esp. burners seem to be more likely to be able to read a disk.
