Default BF2 on a Mac.

Hey Guys,

So, I have played BF2 on my PC for quite a while, until earlier this year when a virus pretty much destroyed the computer that I had that could run BF2 and Project Reality in turn. Now, even though I have a Windows Vista computer, it's such a piece of crap that it can't run Battlefield 2. (Graphics Card is worthless, and my dad doesn't want me going into the computer to put it in (ruling out the option of upgrading this computer to run BF2). But, I recently bought a Apple Macbook, and we have had for a while an IMac.

So here is my question, I was able to find a Port of BF2 to run Singleplayer on the Mac (upgraded to Patch 1.5 and everything), but the issue is the CD key. I have the legitimate game as it is, (it's still installed on my PC running Vista, the game just won't work) [Black Screen]. And a working CD key, but I need the files on my Mac. To play online (Punkbuster I will deal with after i get the game working online, I just want to get the CD key), my question is, where would the files that store the CD key be on a PC? (what folder)? I really want to play BF2: PR again, (the files are downloading onto my PC right now, I am trying to get at least single player running on the Mac for Project Reality), but I want Multiplayer working. (as BF2 is well, a Multiplayer game)

I know i will probably get hate mail for trying to play on a Mac, but I don't care. I just would like some help, haha.

(I don't know if this is the perfect forum to put this in, but it's worth a shot. haha)

If you are a Mac user, and want to try this, PM me or something. I will help you out.

Thanks,

Spork

Why don't you run bootcamp?

Failing that, the BF2 key is a registry entry located @ hkey local machine>software>electronic arts>ea games>battlefield 2>

AFAIK online play with BF2 on a vanilla install of OSX is not possible so go to my first sentence.

my experience on macs go back 18 years, your best bet is too find the install disk (which install disk are you missing? windows or apple install disk 1?) and use bootcamp. Freelance ports will not work on OSX very well to begin with, and i have never heard of multiplayer on a game like bf2 working in a situation like you have described.

i have run bootcamp for years with very few problems. if you need any help with bootcamp its self, feel free to pm me.

HkArmy, sorry to just now get back to you.

It's the Window's disks that i was missing, a friend of the family gave us a copy that I can use, so I should be good to go. I have it installing on the PC in my room at the moment (desktop computer) to make sure it runs before I install in on my Mac. (Just to be safe and know it works) but I think that I might have the issue solved! (I hope)

Thanks for the help,
Spork
