Most definitely go with the Germans on this map. The Germans just "feel right" for this map. Its like that map in PoE2 with the iron railroad bridge, the railroad house, and farmlands scattered about everywhere else, Steel Thunder?

Really good idea of map. But I think you have to make a lot of new objects for this map. The current PR houses are not typical for this region. You need the same houses as on your pics. With current statics map will be not the same.

You sound like you have been there, can you provide any reference images of the houses in the area? The more references the better, even if 2 are very similar its still worth posting both.

The house_dest series could be re-textured to have slate or metal rooves and wooden cladding on the walls without too much trouble. It would end up far better with a lot more refs to use though. I noticed one on googl earth showing both a group of houses similar to the house_dest series, but taller, and the houses shown in the OPs reference photo. It does look like it could be worth making new statics, but it might also be possible to get away with a simpler re-texture.
I dont know the exact location the OP is trying to base this off, but I can tell you that those houses are from a group of images which seem to be from the town of Suzdal in Vladimir Oblast, about 180km NE of Moscow. It has a remarkable number of churches, but we will completely ignore them because the settlement the OP is mapping probably doesn't feature them. Floorplans would help a LOT too, if anyone lives nearby it would really help anyone attempting to make some of these houses if you could go down to an estate agents and have a look round a few houses that are on sale to get a floorplan and a bunch of refs. I know you can usually get little 3 or 4 page books from the estate agents in England that have all of that stuff in them, including exterior photos and one of every major room, they would be perfect for modeling refs. |

those wooden houses are usually build by its owners without any standardised blueprints/plans etc. so nearly every house you come in have different layout
