After a few months of planning, I have finally begun work on a map for PR that takes place in the suburbs of Northeastern Virginia.
Name: Northeastern USA (temp) Location: Woodbridge, VA, USA (20 miles from Washington, DC) ![]() Size: 2km Factions : US Army vs [Russia/China](Paratrooper) Game Mode: AASv4 Concept along with Google Maps: ![]() Minimap so Far: ![]() Not much to show, but here are some screenshots: Overpass: ![]() Shopping Center: ![]() Restaurant: ![]() Suburbs: ![]() ------------------------------------------------------------ Overall, Currently ~15% Done To Do List: Finish Suburbs Finish Roads Golf Course Farms/Fields Trees and such US Main Etc. |

that could turn out to be really interesting! Although, suburban maps like America will be hard to do because we are lacking correct statics really. Other than the XP2 ones. But those are low poly and look terrible IMO.
Hopefully you can figure out a way to pull it off! |

The xp2 ones aren't TOO bad, but they definitely aren't up to PR standards.
The town ones from Valdez, and the a bunch of stuff from Road Rage will work. Currently I am just worried about the different statics to put in the suburbs. I can think of about 7 or 8 different buildings, but that most likely won't be varied enough, so I may be making some of my own. ![]() ![]() Needless to say, this is going to be a huge file to download. |

As a resident of southern Virginia, I fully endorse any map where I can destroy NOVA.

What you are planning here is a full 4km city map. Nothing like that has ever been done in any shooter AFAIC, especially not with the amount of detail PR requires. I think Arma II comes the closest, then again Armas cities are made semi-automatically. It'll be an immense task to the mapper and the poor computers trying to run the map if it ever finishes.
Nevertheless, best of luck, would be an awesome map. |

looks really cool, i always wanted to do something like this.
make sure to get heighmap data from the real place and don't make the map just a flat suburban land. |

I would highly recommend 2km. Not only is it unlikely that the map would be playable with that much detail on a 4km (due to lag) but it would take you two years to make.

My vote goes for MEC as invaders! And I think this concept is good for a 2km map, where it can work very well. Going up to 4km will mean much more work for you, much more stressed PCs and the map isefl will be just boring. Looking at sat image, there is mo much suburb streets it wouldn't be fun.
