I am a pretty avid non-fiction reader and PMCs have always interested me. Recently I read a book called "Blackwater" about the PMC formerly known as Blackwater. In the book they talk about Blackwater being contracted out by the Georgian (as in Soviet Georgia, not American Georgia) to train their SF and were rumored to have been in more than a few gun fights with the separatist.
If we are only allowed to do battles that have already happened you could do Blackwater and Georgia fighting against Taliban style separatist. On the other hand if we can do "what ifs" how about Blackwater in Georgia against Russia during the invasion. The version of the Russian army in the Chechen map is pretty good, no idea about how far the Russian modders are but modern aircraft would be needed. First proposal, please be easy |

I think you will find that your proposal will not be considered for two reasons.
One the PSC team has stated a number of times that the mod is being made around a completely fictional private security company. That has no ties what so ever to real life company's such as Black Water. In fact it has even being said that the reason that the [R-DEV] team never gave the go ahead to anyone purposing the idea of a PSC addon/minimod before is, because everyone always said something to the effect of "lets put Black Water into PR" which frankly is a little dubious at best. The second reason you will most likely find that your idea won't be taken up is why would our fictional PSC send their highly paid and import employees to fight a insurgency or war? They are after all a security company not mercenary's fighting for the highest bidder. Its more likely that they would be tasked and in fact only accept missions which are less hostile such as V.I.P protection, securing none military personnel who might be part of reconstruction efforts or important economic stabilising. Things to that effect rather than as you have put it "Fighting against Taliban style separatist." which implies without a doubt that they are being paid to close with and destroy the separatists. So there is why I personally think you will find that your idea is unsuited for the mod and will never be included as it currently has being purposed. Although the idea of a PSC map/mission in Georgia or some other eastern block/former USSR state certainly is worth some thought. |

agreed with visone on this, there is no place and i very much dout there will be any time a place in the PSC faction for offense type gameplay. PSC is just that "Private SECURITY Contractors" Security meaning a defensive position like VIP escorts ect... I think WallyJas will have more to say on this tho.

The Idea is interesting none the less but as Vision stated very well, the PSCs are most likely aimed to provide protection and not a head-on warfare tatic. It just isn't in the PSC Protocol. Maybe with a Georgia Map there could be some kind of VIP Protection of sorts but none the less there will probably not be a team on team fight IMO.

Since the "PR universe" is largely fictional anyway (PLA? MEC?), I don't see any reason PSC maps could not be set in pretty much any part of the world. Especially parts where there already are conflicts going on.
For example, the fighting between China and the US could for example easily result in volatile political situations all over Asia, with coups or some other war-related states of emergency requiring PSCs to defend corporate interests or VIPs against indiginous militias or bandits, or even small bands of army deserters. Same thing for Eastern Europe. Or any part of the world, really. Main limiting factor is, as almost always, suitable assets. But regardless of locale or backstory, I think any PSC mission should be about security contractors defending themselves and the assets under their protection against small groups of irregular forces at the very worst, never conventional armies, even poorly supplied ones. The difference of military power in any "PSC vs. Army X" situation would, realistically, always be several orders of magnitude. |

Yes, we could put the PSC faction anywhere, but it would at least require some thought about what the scenario would be, and whether it would fit in with the intended use of the faction. If we wanted, we could make a post-Katrina NOLA map -- but probably not. If you want to pursue this project go ahead, PR always needs new, high quality maps. -REad | |

Is the PMC we are talking about here more like the guy who decides one day to be a "body guard", takes a 2 week course, gets his state license and then walks Brittany Spears to her limo OR are we talking about a company like Blackwater who is hired to protect State Department officials in a warzone like Iraq that is staffed 100% by former military and mostly by former special forces?
The former of those 2 will probably never fire a gun in his life and frankly I would rather play an accounting simulator than that. On the other hand Blackwater (I know this is not a Blackwater sim, I just know the most about them) would often use 2 blackhawks to follow their convoys and have former SF snipers covering them from above. That is a pretty daunting task. Thanks for the feedback, I am really just brainstorming more than anything. |
