Default Motherboard Question

Quick question, does the intel X58 motherboard (as seen in this computer Newegg.com - HP Pavilion Elite E9290F(AU850AA#ABA) Intel Core i7 920(2.66GHz) 9GB DDR3 1TB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit - Desktop PCs )

support dual video cards? I plan on building a computer and I have heard good things about this motherboard, just nothing about it supporting 2 graphics cards.

Thanks!

I like gigabyte motherboards - mine is Gigabyte EX58-UD3R

Just a general tip - make sure your MB actually supports triple channel memory if you are buying DDR3 - not all do - or you are effectively underclocking or certainly underutilizing your ram. I've seen many systems advertised with MBs that don't support the parts attached, as manufacturers get rid of them recently. Telltale sign - DDR3 memory should be in multiples of three - 3GB, 6GB, 9GB etc. this one looks OK but I didn't really look at the MB specs in detail.

As to SLI - you may have the slots, but will the cards physically fit? Hard to say until you try. Depends on where other stuff is too. like your HDD.

X58 Chipset - Tri Channel DDR3

P55/H55 Chipset - Dual Channel DDR3

(In relation to the i-series as i7 covers many platforms.)

Basically if the CPU is an i7 920 / 930 / 940 / 950 / 965 EE / 975 EE / 980X then it should be triple channel, anything else and there's a 99% chance it should be dual channel.
