  • Switched to a cheaper 275
  • Switched the power supply to a modular one

Vox, Robbi...

Sparkle GeForce GTX 275 896MB GDDR3 PCI-Express Graphics Card (Includes Batman: Arkham Asylum & 3D Discover Glasses)

What do you think? Same card but it's slightly cheaper than the Palit one and has a higher core & memory clock....

WD Black series are mainly meant for RAID, I'd get a WD Blue series. Regarding the SSD; the Vertex is a good one. The main difference between the Vertex and other comparable SSD's is the controller. The Vertex uses a difference controller than the others (who use a JMicron controller) and are there much slower then being said. I read it in one of my gamemagazines and on a website once, I'll see if I can post it here tonight.

No problems there, only difference is that card is reference cooled to may be slightly louder, however the reference coolers for nVidia tend to be tolerable up to about 50% and they idle at% which is inaudible.

The higher clocks shouldn't make much performance difference, not with that sort of clock on it anyway, the 275's can be pushed quite far if you're willing to spend time tweaking.

Above all it's the cheapest, so if you want a 275 over a 260, then it'll be a good card.

Don't change the SSD. The vertex has an indlilinx controller, which is better than the samsung controller found in the Corsair drives.

Bottom line: OCZ Vertex or Intel for SSD's.

Yeah I'll leave the Vertex on there definitely.

This is on hold unfortunately, most likely another 1-2 months until I can make the purchase. By then there will be a few changes to make so I'll bump the thread

I have a OCZ Vertex 60GB, they're awesome. Need to set it up and tweak it properly though but I can help you out when you get it up and running . Be sure to use Windows 7 x64.
