Problems with the IPB forums

Having asked about getting images for copying to the ipb forums, a disussion began with the devs regarding the forums.

As it stands, we wont be releasing the images, and we will want the external forum to no longer be used.

This is the OFFICIAL project reality events team, and so everything should be done in-house, where the red tags and forum web masters have control, not the ipb forum owners.

the problem is, having an external forum makes the events look very "amateur hour", and less official.

here is a quote given to me from UK_force when he gave me the role, and it's what im trying to achieve:

Having the external forums makes it feel a bit more tournie and a little "too organised".

Having dedicated commanders will suffice, but I've come up with a proposal.

When members sign up, they may sign up as a squad leader. After they are mixed up into their teams, the two commanders can pick the squad leaders, and PM them the basic battle plan.

This is the only way forward I can see. We cant create forums for each team, as dealing with permissions would be a nightmare every two weeks.

If it has to deal with PR and its team members it should be run here. You have a real concern Matrox and sounds like that start to a good plan.

Might takes some time to find a plugin that allow something like team switching so might take a bit of time.

Soldier CP is what's used on the PRT forums, it works quite well, GMT2001 knows how to use it, maybe speak to him?


This discussion has been going on for a long time, and we've wanted the sign-ups here since the start, but we just haven't been listened too for some reason with excuses such as the DEVs are busy etc.

Sorry, jumped the gun and got angry, I kinda sent a pissy PM to Matrox which I sent a retraction PM. Soorry Matrox

But seems My PM's to Matrox seem to fail on my end. They never go as I am looking through my logs.


But I have been asking 2Slick. No luck. Seems 2Slick is a Busy man. But if he can't who can? Gaz?

I think Matrox said he would contact Gaz. I remember him saying something about that. He was the one who told me 2Slick is a busyman. So I guess I'll just go for the ride.
