Default Community Event 9th October

Hello!,

Thank you to all those who attended tonight's event it didn't go quite as planned but I hope you enjoyed your Friday night and managed to stay Sober this week .

This was the first run ran without the leadership of Matrox, so we where a little unsure of ourselves. Myself and Scot have helped out before but never been the head managers of an event.

Before anyone asks we apologies in advance for the server difficulties, due to a silly mistake by myself the server was up with the correct password before we where planning on starting it, it was however meant to have a different password so we could tinker around and get things working properly. Something seemed to have cocked up in whatever was being set up as their where a few problems. Luckily we managed to change servers and things went of smoothly on the 2 planned maps.
Tonight we decided to try something different and play some underplayed maps with the aid of mumble.
I was offline for most of Barracuda so I'm not sure how it went, however i was their for Jabal and it was pretty evident against an organized team your going to get pasted as the US.
I was hoping to run the Normal Game play part of the event later, however I wasn't sure how Muttrah would play out against the mighty [OD-S] on the one team which is why we decided to switch to zombies. Stupidly i forgot that smartbalance on-that's one to remember not to put on next time!!! which is why it fell a bit flat on the face.

A slightly shorter and perhaps not up to the quality of the events we have had in the past, however as i said it was for myself and Scot our first event so we hope to improve next time-that's not to say it was a terrible night however i for one had fun.

We are planning on hosting a VIP Event soon, so please keep your eyes peeled.

Keep all feedback relevant and constructive,

Shavid.

Night was good. Obiviously the Admin Commands were the biggest problem. I'm not sure if you checked 24 or 48 hours before the match to make sure your CC Commands were accessible but if not, this may be a good checklist to do. I did this every time before I ever ran a match.

The Scenario. I admit the OD-S Attack did favor once or twice. Best map overall was Barracuda. Good scenario. Can't wait for the VIP night.

First time I've participated in an event, and it was great!
Both Barracuda and Jabal were great. The zombie match was a bit unorganized, but it was OK too.
Looking forward to the VIP event; do you have any idea how soon it will be?

First event here aswell, barracuda was awsome defending, and i was sat in the com chair for all of jabal. It was fun on asad kal with the "boxing arena" which ended up as a large melee to finish every one off.

Had a good time commanding US on Barracuda and MEC on Jabal. We almost had you on Barracuda, just needed a squad or two to die a bit less and it would have been our game.

Jabal on the other hand... there isnt much you can when you face a thousand worshippers of Allah, coming in from all directions. Only thing that sucked on Jabal was that the US had a bugged firebase and kept spawning there.

Overall, I had a good time as did rest of [OD-S]!

Yeah, that was pretty fun, although the US first assault wave got destroyed on Barracuda and their second wave landed in a canyon and were gunned down from both sides...

But nice job to you guys, you actually ended up getting some territory, against all odds.
Unfortunately I could only play for most of one round, but it was very fun.

Nice organization and planning on the part of the admins.
The 20 minute interlude before the battle was a good idea, plus, it gave us time to mine the beaches.

Yea, was the first event for me as well, although I have been playing PR for ... well, a few years now...

Anyway, Barracuda was really fun and had some really intense gameplay - thanks for the great teamwork and especially for organizing the even!

Big THANK YOU to [R-COM]Scot (<- also for beeing good SL ) and [R-COM]MrSh@vid for the organization and administration of the event - you did an awsome job!

However, I also wanted to give you some feedback about the 20 min preparation-time.
I don't know how it was on Jabal and other maps ( a bit more than 2 hours of gaming were enough for), but on barracuda it was far too long. Some preparation-time might be good to give the PLA some better start, but during the round it became more and more obvious, that PLA got too strong during this time. They could buily up defencive-possisions, Fire-Bases and all that stuff, which made it really hard for US to get a foot on the island. I mean, lossing with 64-0 is quite hard. That does not come from bad teamplay in the US-Team or waht ever, but simply because it was to difficult for us.
Anyway, I would propose to reduce the time to maybe 5 min or so, so that they can build up some stuff, but not as much as thy did so that we have at least a little chance to land on the island.

I joined in about 5 minutes before the bullets started flying on Barracuda and I must say it was pretty epic. I was on Snipe/Recon Squad and everything was good but if we could have just streamlined things a little more we may have had the map. I am not a big fan of Jabal so I jumped out. Regardless I am looking forward to the next we do this.
