Default Golden Squad

Okay, so the tournament has now been postponed, but I think if it's not possible to run a 6v6 tourney when there's a regular 32v32 tournament there are more problems than simply the time of year. Here's a few suggestions I think should be implemented for next time. Please discuss and add more.

1) Max roster sizes to be increased to 10 - if the size of the rosters isn't increased there are going to be more problems with teams losing players and not being able to make matches at their set time.

2) Optional 7v7 / 8v8 if both teams agree. Even though the maps are small 8v8 is a lot better imo than 6v6, it's the format of match we normally play for skirmish, I don't know about other teams. If both teams agree to it I think you should be able to increase the team size to 7 or 8 for more action in matches. The default can still remain 6v6.
- Alternatively, if it is to be 6v6 only, each team may use only 1 squad, to be determined by demo evidence if there is no admin present and the other team suspects cheating. This will stop there being an overload of medics and LMGs, and it is called the golden squad tourney after all.

3) Teams to change their time within limits if they wish. Default time to be around 7/8 gmt on sundays to avoid clashing with PRT, but if both teams agree they can change their match to any time in the week that the next round of matches is posted.

Any more help appreciated if this event is to run smoothly on the next attempt.

The reason (in my opinion) this failed is because you opened the sign ups and then had nothing ready after that. Teams are going to make other commitments unless you have their first match ready very soon after they sign up. If the first weekend of battles was August 15/16, the sign ups should not have opened until the first weekend in August.

Erm, everything was ready Cool, but just with the kits bug and then a few teams not having teams ready until the mid to late of August this was what seemed to be the best time to run it. Obviously not.

@ Masterbake, that is what the PRL is for, we are not here as a Tournament, more a fun event which for one reason or another, messed up.

I'm sure as soon as it is ready to be played again, the [R-COM] team will be on the ball

Perhaps I should rephrase.

The signups were opened and then nothing happened for a while, regardless of readiness. People are just going to lose interest after more than a couple weeks.

Masterbake, if we increase it to 7v7 or 8v8, it's not one squad now is it? A squad in PR contains 6 people, so the Golden Squad shall be the best 6 people.

Yes definitely Cool, but the major downfall of this first attempt was due to a bug rather than team cock up. Bad timing is the killer of most things But im sure Matrox and the lads will be the first to admit that things have been learnt from this, and hopefully nothing out of their control will fail it again.

So if it is 6v6, as I suggested make it compulsory to have 1 squad, because given the choice no intelligent team would have only 1, when you can get another LMG and medic by having another squad.
It should be pretty easy to pick up - if there are 2 officers, medics or LMGs on the enemy team at one time, as proved by a demo, they forfeit.

As for the date being the only problem, I don't think it would be if you could change the roster more easily or have more people.
Perhaps on the Tuesday or Wednesday of the match week a team captain in the next round would have to PM his roster of 8 to the admin, or post it in a new thread, and with the start of each new round these rosters are copied by the admin into the thread for those matches. Make it legal to have 2 changes max per round, and 4 max in the whole tournament sounds fair to me, if no players who've been in another squad already can sub in.

To be honest, the updates etc.. were poorly executed for the Golden Squad event.

I didn't even know it had been postponed until I woke up at midnight to fight in it!! That royally mucked up my sleeping schedule and made me a little bitter about it all seeing as I put a lot of commitment into being awake and online for it.

It didn't help that the updates were far between.

^ agreed although i didnt have to wake up at midnight. I dont think we can blame all of the R-Coms, from what i can gather the R-Com who left the team basically screwed the whole thing up as he was organising it. Not sure who it was but i think it was really down to that person ruining it. Not sure why he left could have been for a serious reason but no matter what i think it probably comes down to that guy.

Let me be the first to say that what you just said was completely out of line. Just because an R-COM left doesn't mean shit mate. It was a new project. sure it may have had bumps but it will be better 2nd time around.

I ask you please watch what you say about people. ANY R-Team member does this for fun. They are here to HELP YOU. Not for you to blame them for anything. If it wasn't for them then this shit would have never happened and you would have been just playing PR and doing the same old thing. Maybe that R-COM had something More important to do so they had to back down. If you can't understand this then I'll explain like so...

What's more important, food on the table and Real Life things or Doing a Hobby. To me, it's the food on the table.

R-COMs are a Team, and sure things happen. But they tried their best and put their time into it for you. So Please be nice to the R-TEAM. Whether R-COM or R-CON or R-DEV. No Matter what
