Me and a clan mate played it for a couple of hours today, and from our point of view,
it basically turned out to be Kashan Training v2.

The first 10 min on the server, british main were raped by an AAV, which eventually got warned and tailed off, but then all our air-assets were destroyed.

Additionally had none of the team commanders, the squads were all named Pilots, ReconOps, Snipers, "UN" and so on.

Some people even suggested a peace meeting between the self-appointed "ambassadors" of each team, which they carried out in their UN vehicles.

In other words, no teamplay took place whatsoever, there were far too many (UN) assets to play with, and except from the aircarft raping the mainbases, all but a couple of tanks were in combat near the bunker area.

The server was half-full during our stay, and we left about 3pm GMT.
(I hope the game picked up later on, when the core gamers usually starts playing, and that I was just unlucky and played it in the public "lets-test-the-new-content" phase)

[R-DEV]Jaymz - If it wasn't for the F-18's incompetence, "Independence Day" would have ended half-way through.

This map cant be played on any pub server for a simple reason:

Its simply a asset whore map. Everyone want to use tanks, Helis etc...

I'm sure assets will be toned down if this map comes in the next release but I love the new sunset apearance as well as the greater veiw distance. The one on Kashan doesnt feel right.

Got on at roughly 15 GMT, and left about half an hour later. No teamwork at all really, and everyone wanted to kind of go on their own. had no planning and no purpose (as in objectives and such). AT that time there were only 12 people on each side. Maybe it's just because it's Kashan with lots of vehicles with low spawn times and huge view distance, but I don't see the map getting any teamwork on pub games.

TBF lads, think community maps like this one should be left to matching situations

The map is beautiful, but the assets are to public play what a wine cabinet is to an alcoholic.

Tone down the vehicles and increase the spawn times, and this map could - should - replace or complement Kashan.

I wanted to prove to all the members who wanted this as a Public Map, that it does not work as you have all now seen, or those that bothered to jump on and have a look.

You can now see that these Maps are actually "designed" for organised matches with Judges only really.

Yes this map would be a replacement for Kashan, if it where put back to less assets etc, etc.

Maybe in the Future you will see a Kashan v2 from this?

Personally...

Yes, there are alot of vehicles to go around. But the problem is that; (and with any server mind you) that does not have an active administration will only encourage people to run amuck.

It's clear that to put any map, or maps specifically with excess amount of vehicles on a lawless server, and you'll have yuppies running about. Now... If you were to play this map on any heavily administrated server, such as Tactical Gamer for example. You'll see things shape up for the better.

To be honest, I was shocked to join the server and see no administration present. Especially on what was advertised as being a "Community Event". Something under this kind of specialized circumstance would be expected to be patroled by moderators. Apparently not.

It feels as if this map and event was specifically thrown out to the wolves to prove a point that was already obvious. To that effect however, I am not surprised on the general player behavior. Then again, it appears that after most of the skilled players realized this "Community Event" was not moderated, it became a sparsely populated server. If I remember correctly, I've only seen at most 30 or so people playing at once on a 64 player server.

Also, the UN vehicles should have been removed with the release of the public version. They apparently serve little to no purpose to the team.

As for the referance to the whole V2 map senario. I love it. Not because I play on it. But because all the rejects gravitate elsewhere. Thanks Battlearena.

Take the Blue Pill or take the Red Pill?

Oh yeah, I never thought Desert Rats could go public with those assets and objective layout, but maybe Kashan with the same view distance and lighting and sky as Desert Rats?
