Thanks Odds!

Do you have any idea how many times a day we have to respond to posts like Wolfspirits? Life would be so much easier if we could just change the text in the kick message.

Wolfspirit - you weren't banned, you just tried to join the server when it was full. It's all explained in the links provided by ZZEZ and Oddsodz.

Thanks guys!

In order to change the text, the player would have to load up first and join before we kick them.

Even more frustrating.

It is hardcoded. We cannot change the text.

Definitely the best PR server of all especially if you're a mature person looking for a tactical game play and communication between players.

Is there a reason TG does not have a second public server running? It seems like a good idea since the current TG public server has plenty of great teamwork and is usually full.

We have thought about bringing up a second server a few times, but they are always shot down.

Our server is one of the top BF2 servers (currently #7. It floats around 4-8 throughout the week). It is almost always full at 62 players. You have any idea how much that costs?

While the higher up people at TG don't tell us the exact cost, it is in the hundreds of dollars a month. The only way we can support the server is through the supporting memberships ($80/year or $9/month).

Now, the main reason that people buy our supporting memberships is to always have the ability to access our server, instead of waiting for a slot to open up at 61/64. There are two results of our server being always full:
A. It costs an incredible amount of money. Insane amounts.
B. People buy our supporting memberships.

If we had two servers, then the following would happen.
A. They would likely always be full, (although not as full all the time. See B) causing us a ton of money.
B. Fewer supporting memberships would be bought because people have easier access to our server. It would still cost a ton (probably about 1.7 times as much), and we would have far fewer supporting members.

The higher cost and the lower rate of income means no new public TG PR server.

Our PR server is the most costly server Tactical Gamer has. Hundreds of dollars a month. Thousands of dollars a year.

Re: TacticalGamer.com (USA)

It also has to do with the ability to support the servers with admin coverage. We just don't have enough TG PR admins to support this idea. We (TG Admins) have been thinking about starting a second server dedicated to Insurgency Modes, but this will in turn create a "Us vs. Them" theme that we don't want. It is best to have quality over quantity.

It is more likely over a thousand a month and in the tens of thousands a year. We use, I believe, an enormous amount of bandwidth due to the constant population on the server, and that bandwidth comes at a price.

@Blitzcraig:

The reality of it is is that, to echo DirtBoy's statement, we feel it would lead to a division within our community, whether the second server is a pure insurgency server or just a second AAS box. Either way, our player base will be split and will most likely lead to two sub-communities within our TG PR community. We'd rather have just once community with a server that is in high demand.

Then again, no one that has respond to your post is in the position to be the ones that actually pay the bills and make the real decisions, so take our "educated guesses" for what they're worth.

Okay, thanks for all the responses. I figured that server cost was a set amount based on what size the server is, not based on how many people frequent it.
