Not sure if ports will auto open in router, I would think not.Your headset works fine in other games so the problem must be in game settings.
Do you have hardware/med set for audio?
What are you other audio settings in game?

Make sure these ports are open on your router (my router 'D-link Gamers lounge' auto opens these ports for BF2)

TCP
80,
4711,
29900,
29901,
29920,
28910
44301
45301

UDP
1500 - 4999,
16567,
27900,
29900,
29910,
27901,
44301,
45301,

55123,
55124,
55215

Not sure what ports (TCP/UDP)
port for PnkBstrA = 44301
port for PnkBstrB = 45301
should be, so opened for both

Re: VOIP Issue: Can Speak, Can't Hear

The router ports may be somewhat more difficult to mess with for me, it doesn't seem as straightforward as with Windows Firewall.
Do different servers use different ports on the client for the same purpose, i.e. would two different servers use different ports for VOIP?
Also, when reinstalling the motherboard driver, do I have to remove the old one before installing the new, as with graphics drivers, or can I just install a new one right over?
Here's the Audio.con file from one of my profiles.
Code:
AudioSettings.setVoipEnabled 1
AudioSettings.setVoipPlaybackVolume 1
AudioSettings.setVoipCaptureVolume 1
AudioSettings.setVoipCaptureThreshold 1
AudioSettings.setVoipBoostEnabled 1
AudioSettings.setVoipUsePushToTalk 1
AudioSettings.setProvider "software"
AudioSettings.setSoundQuality "Medium"
AudioSettings.setEffectsVolume 1
AudioSettings.setMusicVolume 0.33
AudioSettings.setHelpVoiceVolume 1
AudioSettings.setEnglishOnlyVoices 0
AudioSettings.setEnableEAX 1

I was referring to in game settings.

Here my audio file:

AudioSettings.setVoipEnabled 1
AudioSettings.setVoipPlaybackVolume 1
AudioSettings.setVoipCaptureVolume 1
AudioSettings.setVoipCaptureThreshold 0.0147652
AudioSettings.setVoipBoostEnabled 1
AudioSettings.setVoipUsePushToTalk 1
AudioSettings.setProvider "hardware"
AudioSettings.setSoundQuality "Medium"
AudioSettings.setEffectsVolume 0.698835
AudioSettings.setMusicVolume 0.0345193
AudioSettings.setHelpVoiceVolume 1
AudioSettings.setEnglishOnlyVoices 1
AudioSettings.setEnableEAX 1

Why don't you copy and paste mine into yours for a test?

I don't think you need to remove old 'motherboard' drivers before updating/replacing them.
I noted on your audio files you have software selected for you audio rendering instead on using your onboard audio HARDWARE.
Have you tried using Hardware?

Re: VOIP Issue: Can Speak, Can't Hear

Well I used your audio.con file, which lists "hardware" as provider and it didn't work. Also, hypothetically speaking, if this was the problem, why would VOIP work on the few servers it did work on?
I've also tried the default settings in both Video and Audio for which VOIP use to work but now it didn't.
The list of potential causes should be narrowed down to something that depends on a server setting or such. For all I could tell, server OS has nothing to do with it. Neither does Battlerecorder.

Re: VOIP Issue: Can Speak, Can't Hear

Yea having one or two servers work while your cut off from hearing the others has me at a loss, sorry.
I'll keep thinking about it, tho and let you know if I have any more ideas.
Oh can you take your pc to a friends house and test it?

Guess what I had a bittorrent download going today and when I loged it to a game...
I couldn't hear anyone or see their mike light,I was told voip was working.
I could see my mike light light up when I talked but I couldn't hear anyone and I don't think anyone could hear me ether.

Quit out of bittorrent and restarted pr , no dice. Rebooted and restarted PR and voip is working again. Can here and talk, so check you don't have any other programs that might be using ports bf2 needs for voip.

Re: VOIP Issue: Can Speak, Can't Hear

I've tried closing all (well at least I think all) unnecessary programs, no luck though. Will check more with that one.
Also, apparently, my router can't forward enough ports for Battlefield 2. Is that bad, or would it affect me only if I'm trying to host a server? Bear in mind that the router was never changed and for the first 8 months of play, Battlefield 2 VOIP has worked fine.
