New 0.8 Problem

I had a load of handshaking and MD5 tool problems with PB and despite following the guides. I just turned off my firewall and hey presto it seems to be working but now when I join a server I end up seeing nothing but the compass, the map scenery and the "select a spawn" text at the top. The game definately isnt freezing as I checked task manager and the pogram is always running smoothly and my computer can easily handle the graphics.

you have to open the map (default Caps-Lock) and select a spawn and spawn in

if your screen is all black its because you are dead - thats pr, no ghosting
