game crashes to desktop when ever i try to join a server

after i finished downloading project reality core and levels for the first time i tried to join a server and when i clicked deploy it tells me i am connecting for a brief second and then crashes to desktop, can anyone help me fix this?

oddly enough i fixed this problem by going to option and changing the display mode to over the normal they set it too and it fixed the whole thing.
