Server requires PunkBuster to be enabled

I get this when I try join the servers with punkbuster enabled which is practically all of them, I have tried reinstalling it all, BF2, the 1.41 Patch and then PR .8 and levels and it still does it!

It started doing this after I downloaded pbsetup and put BF2 in and did the update thingy, from then on its done this! I used pbsetup cause I was having handshaking failures and was told that pbsetup would fix it! but its just broke it!

How do I enable it?

I had the same problem Go to mydocuments/Battlefield 2 profiles then find your profile (EG 001 or 002) then go to general and then find "GeneralSettings.setAllowPunkBuster 0" then change the zero to a 1. Mine was enabled in game but i did this and fixed it you can also do the same to auto reload lol but dont its not as much fun

i have the same problem but i cant open the .con files to change anything?

Check in the server screen that your punkbuster button is checked (at the bottom right) this happened a couple days ago to me to, somehow the PB button got unselected, just re-check it and you should be ok.


Assuming that the button is not checked currently that is.
