Unhappy Vista VOIP problems with Realtek sound drivers.

I have tried downloading the latest drivers , checked that
the mic works with Vista (it does) and well , I can't only
check the "Boost Mic Gain" option in the VOIP settings
ingame. And yes I did what I should have done to enable it.
No joy so far. Any ideas?

So are you saying the mike boost is checked on in Vista audio?

I have Vista 64 and use onboard Realtek sound drivers as well.

After the last Realtek sound drivers update my voip stop working. I fixed it by going back into windows audio control panels and checking "boost mike" on.( It got unchecked somehow)
Once I did that I could check boost mike in game as well and voip worked again.

Hope it helps

Well why don't you change it temporarily to English?
Or you should be able to set up a new user account for English without affecting others users.

Start/settings/control panel/regional and language options

This from windows help and support
Change the display language

The display language is the language that Windows uses in wizards, dialog boxes, menus, Help and Support topics, and other items in the user interface. Some display languages are installed by default, and others require you to install additional language files. When you change the display language, it is changed for your user account and is not changed on the Welcome screen. If you want to set the display language for multiple users or the Welcome screen, see Apply regional and language settings to reserved accounts.

Click to open Regional and Language Options.

Click the Keyboards and Languages tab.

Under Display language, choose a language from the list, and then click OK.

Note
If you don't see the list of display languages, you need to install additional language files first. For more information, see Install a display language.

When you change the display language, the text in menus and dialog boxes for some programs might not be in the language that you want. This happens because the program might not support Unicode. For more information about changing the text in menus and dialog boxes for programs that do not support Unicode, see Change the system locale.

Good luck

- right click on the winodws speaker symbol (not the orange Realtek speaker symbol)
- select "Recording Devices" (second from the bottom)
- double click the microphone
- go to "level" slide (second slide)
- change the lower slide control (the higher the +db the more boost you will have)

hope this was instructive enough to get you through the greek vista as well
