CTD + Game doesn't start at-all

Hi guys,

I've been having a recent problem with Battlefield 2, which involves Project Reality, as neither of them start.

Whenever I try to start Project Reality/BF2, it does not start up, I click the BF2/PR icon, then a black screen comes up. (No PR/BF2 splash image)

Once the black screen comes up; nothing happens and I go back to my desktop.

... thus my problem.

I've reinstalled Battlefield 2 and that has done nothing to solve the situation. The last thing is that I'd have to format the drive and reinstall windows.

The reason I'm talking about reinstalling windows is that I have also another game installed, Battlefield 2142, that does not work either and I have the same issue with Battlefield 2! (I've reinstalled DirectX10 and all the games which I've been having issues with to no avail)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

run in windowed mode to get the debug

on pure hunch im guessing you have resolution to high or sommit

Posting your systems specks Is always helpful.
Have you run battlefield cleaner?
To test if your bf2 files are corrupted,
toss the bf2 folder inside your documents folder to the trash but
DON'T EMPTY the trash YET!!
Restarting the game will regenerate a new folder.
You will need to redo your keyboard settings but for now just see if it loads all the way.

Sounds like a hardware issue tho if Battlefield 2142 doesn't work either.
Have you checked your video card fan is working and if your card has a extra power leg in like most high end cards do, make sure the connection is good.

I've never had this problem before, and I haven't changed my resolution however I will go by your hunch and run in windowed mode, I appreciate the suggestion, hopefully it will work so I can play my beloved PR.

My computers old, however it has played Project Reality fine for the past year and this year.

Well as said, I uninstalled the game and replaced anything that was already there, it resulted in the same issue arising. So I don't think the files are corrupted if I had already re-installed everything.

I'm pretty sure it's not a hardware issue, I think it's more like a Windows problem, as I inserted my Windows disc *Just now* and it said there was a file which it could not locate in 'SYSTEM' something.

Yay. I managed to fix the problem. I reinstalled the graphics driver for my ATI and it solved the problem. Woo hoo! Project Reality, here we come!
