VOIP dies after about a minute.

I can get voice chat working initially without a problem, everyone sounds clear and they confirm I sound great to them too. But after about a minute or two, maybe as much as five minutes (it seems to be a variable based on how much talking there has been rather than the time itself), it won't work anymore. That isn't to say I just can't hear it anymore or my mic quits working, but rather, it seems to have gone completely disabled. I get no further notification that anyone is speaking (text indicator on hud), nor does my PTT key bring up the hot mic / open channel icon any longer. Restarting the game is the only thing that fixes this.

What I've tried so far:

Latest drivers
Setting mic boost off before game
Setting mic boost on before game
Setting mic boost off during game
Setting mic boost on during game
All of the above through both the game's mic boost option and Windows sound options directly
Setting sound to software render in game
Setting sound to hardware render in game
Setting hardware acceleration through DXDIAG to full
Setting hardware acceleration through DXDIAG to medium
Setting hardware acceleration through DXDIAG to low
Setting hardware acceleration through DXDIAG to none
Muting mic before game through Windows
Muting mic during game through Windows
Un-Muting mic during game through Windows
Un-muting mic during game through Windows
Rebinding PTT key before game
Rebinding PTT key during game
Testing while in a squad as member
Testing while in a squad as leader
Testing while Commander

No noteworthy effects to mention during these trials.

I'm using an Asus A8V Delux motherboard, Realtek 97 integrated audio with latest drivers.

If anyone has any thoughts on what I might be overlooking, your assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Re: VOIP dies after about a minute.

I get the same thing, usually X minutes into a round it goes dead. The (voip) icon doesn't show,I can hear the others and
if CTR+TAB the mic. works in windows. We use teamspeak
on the PRT but that's not a solution for pubbing.
I blamed it on the XFI+Win64 but can't be certain, drives me crazy

Restarting the game is the only fix, here as well.
Any suggestions?

If you have a Creative control panel.
ALt + Tab out when you lose VOIP.
Switch to entertainment mode during game.
It won't switch, but VOIP gets restored.

If you're using on board sound try updating the drivers. Google realtek ac97 audio for the latest ones. That should cure it.

Arrow Re: VOIP dies after about a minute.

May be a router issue with voip being mistaken for a flood attack and shut down.

Belkin routers seem to see all the Voip and BF2 packages incoming as an intrusion (-> "intrusion detection") or DOS-Attacks (Denial Of Service)

this happens especially if there is a lot of traffic incoming (2 ppl in the lan playing bf at the same time, lot of chatter via voip)

if you have such a router and experience the above problem you might want to check the router's logs for "**UDP Flood to Host**" or similar warnings

here is what you can do:
1. turn off router's intrusion detection
2. turn off router's firewall
3. get a new router
4. turn off voip (to reduce traffic)
