Refresh Rate Problems

I've been having issues running PR on my laptop I got it to run on 1360x768 resolution by pluging it into a TV which forced a 60hz refresh rate with the monitor cloned it ran fine. Now if I have a 1360x768 resolution without the TV I can't set any other refresh rate other than 59hz when I try to run PR it doesn't work. Is there a way to force a higher refresh?

Have you tried running battlefield cleaner to flush out your video cache files?
I don't run pr on a laptop so I can't be of more help.

I downloaded it but I don't see how it would help me force the refresh rate up a notch.

I had hoped flushing the video cards cache clean would bring you back to your default settings. Like I said I don't run pr on a lap top so I'm sorry I can't be more help.
Have you read through the bf2 tweak guide for new ideas?

Good luck

Re: Refresh Rate Problems

I had a similar issue with BF 2142 after I changed my monitor, it's the launching of the videos at the startup of PR that completely fails causing a crash (black screen followed by CTD)?

I resolved this by firstly wiping the command line on the PR startup of any +SZX/+SZY extensions and then delete the BF2 cache file in Mydocuments\Battlefiled2\Mods\BF2\Cache(should launch as 800x600 and auto-set refresh when that is done).

Also check your desktop refresh rate is set correctly via Nvidia settings or ATI equivalent as sometimes there is an automatic mode if your monitor supports more than one refresh rate. Another thing to check is the dual view is disabled in NView control panel (Single display only) just in case your PC is expecting another monitor to be plugged in, will have to check my laptop to find the ATI equivalents.

Hope that helps.

Re: Refresh Rate Problems

Note: I am running Vista.

I have an HP laptop, and it's stuck on 59hz. Oddly enough, BF2 can't run at 59hz at all. I've tried just about every solution on the Net, to no avail. Forcing it through other programs doesn't work.

So I'm forced to hook up an external monitor. That monitor can support up 75hz, and BF2 runs fine on 60 and 75, but 60 is fuzzy.

If you're running Vista like me, you'll have to stick with an external monitor. But if you're running XP, there's a solution using nvidia control panel:

I am running vista and I'm in the same boat as you Cyrax-Sektor; external monitors. I think I may be screwed...

There is a nice program called "Powerstrip" that lets you
"create" a custom resolution and even a small .inf (monitor
driver)

download from Guru3D.com
