i have a new system with only 2 games. BF2 and of cours PR.
4 gig memory intel core duo E8400 3 ghz a new graphiccard with 512mb ram 8800 GT GFORCE in the game i often see lags which makes it very difficult for me to aim at targets while moving. with fast moving vehicles the lags get more and more disturbing. i have no clue how to solve this problem, i dont think my system is too slow for the game... if you have any ideas plz let me know... greetings |

Re: problems with lags
Vista or Xp, X SP3 or SP2?
is the new machine from the store all pre-built, or did you build it with minimum installed services, drivers and assorted junk? Also are you using the latest nvidia forceware from their main site, rather than the built in microsoft drivers? also check you have all the main system drivers installed for your mainboard if you built it yourself. Check there are no little yellow question marks in your device manager. |

I think he was referring to your video card cache.
Run battlefield cleaner to quickly flush out files on your card. You should run the game at the same res as your desktop. I find you can lower some settings without even noticing it really. Light maps to med shadows med I feel if your running at a high res you don't even need to have anti aliasing on, but some like it. Experiment a bit and use what looks good to you. Check out some tweak guides for bf2. Your systems specks sound just fine to run all max tho so check you have the latest drivers. Do you use the "AFFINITY 2" in your shortcut to run the game only on the 2nd cpu? Mine looks like this: "E:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" start /AFFINITY 2 +modPath mods/pr +menu 1 +widescreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050 bf2 isn't multi threaded so it can't take advantage of more than one processor. Hope you have your sound in game set to "hardware" if you can to take some of the lode off the cpu What O/S do you run the game with? |
